  • Publication number: 20100316922
Abstract: In order to assure drive of a drive motor, a boost operation of a boost device is appropriately performed by judging whether a voltage supplied from a fuel cell suffices a voltage required for driving the drive motor, thereby suppressing a switching loss by the boost device. A fuel cell system is a power source for driving a load. The system includes: a drive motor driven by an electric power; a fuel cell which generates electricity by an electrochemical reaction between an oxidizing gas containing oxygen and a fuel gas containing hydrogen and supplies an electric power to the drive motor; a first boost device which can boosts the voltage outputted from the fuel cell and supplies the boosted voltage to the drive motor; and boost control means which controls voltage boost performed by the first boost device according to the relationship between the fuel cell output voltage and the voltage required by the drive motor.

  • Publication number: 20100025133
Abstract: A power supply system is provided for supplying power to a first drive device and a second drive device functioning as a drive source of a moving body. A fuel cell and a storage battery device are connected via a power conversion device. The fuel cell can supply power to the first drive device and the storage battery device can supply power to the second drive device, respectively, without using the power conversion device. When an output request from the moving body is a normal output request, power is supplied to each of the drive devices by the fuel cell and the storage battery device, respectively. Only when power to be supplied to the first drive device as in the output request from the moving body is greater than an amount of power that can be generated by the fuel cell, that power supply from the storage battery device to the first drive device via the power conversion device is permitted.

  • Publication number: 20100013301
Abstract: An electric power supply system mounted on a moving body, which supplies electric power from a plurality of direct-current power source devices to an alternating-current drive apparatus that functions as a drive source of the moving body. Each of the plurality of direct-current power source devices is connected to a corresponding inverter, which converts a direct-current output of the direct-current power source device into an alternating-current output, thereby forming one alternating-current output unit. Alternating-current wirings are used to make connection between each alternating-current output unit and the alternating-current drive apparatus and between respective alternating-current output units. Thereby, it is possible to keep electrical insulation between electric power supply wirings and a moving body with relative ease and also make connection between the direct-current power source devices in a simple and easy way.

  • Patent number: 7642738
Abstract: A power steering apparatus includes an electric motor, a temperature sensor, and a control unit. The electric motor produces an assist steering effort in a steering system. The temperature sensor measures a temperature of a first portion subject to thermal influence of operation of the electric motor. The control unit determines an estimated temperature of a second portion in accordance with a value of a motor current, the second portion being subject to thermal influence of operation of the electric motor. The control unit determines a first upper limit value in accordance with the measured temperature; determines a second upper limit value in accordance with the estimated temperature; limit the motor current to a smaller one of the first and second upper limit values, when determining that the temperature sensor is normal; limit the motor current to the second upper limit value, when determining that the temperature sensor is abnormal.
