  • Patent number: 7272717
Abstract: Each embodiment of this invention implements step-by-step and empirical authentication of devices upon digital authentication among a plurality of devices. Each of a plurality of authentication devices of each embodiment can unidirectionally generate a hash value of a low experience rank from a hash value of a high experience rank, and receives a set of high experience rank and hash value in accordance with an experience. Upon receiving a certification request of the experience rank from another authentication device, the authentication device transmits a corresponding hash value to the authentication device as a request source. Upon sending a certification request of an experience rank to another authentication device, the authentication device verifies a hash value obtained from the other authentication device on the basis of a self hash value. In this way, the authentication devices authenticate each other's experience ranks.

  • Patent number: 6072647
Abstract: When a reproduced signal is outputted from the MR head to the envelope detector, the positive envelope joining positive peaks and the negative envelope joining negative peaks are outputted from the envelope detector to the asymmetry detector. An asymmetry value or fluctuation value of the reproduced signal waveform can be found through comparison of the positive envelope and negative envelope and calculation at the asymmetry detector. If these values do not fall within a desired or permissible range, a high degree of asymmetry is indicated in the reproduced signal waveform, and the sense current controller accordingly alters the sense current value. This operation is continued until the envelope of the reproduced signal waveform resulting from the new sense current falls within the desired or permissible range.

  • Patent number: 5180901
Abstract: A pressure sensor for inputting finger characteristic data and an authenticity sensor for detecting whether a finger is authentic are arranged on the surface of an IC card. A finger can be placed on the pressure sensor and the authenticity sensor at the same time. Finger characteristic data is input by the pressure sensor. A controller calculates a sum signal from the input finger characteristic data, and collates the calculated sum signal with a reference sum signal of an owner of the card stored in a dictionary memory. An authenticity detecting circuit inputs data from the authenticity sensor, and detects whether a finger is authentic. If the finger is authentic and if a coincidence is determined between the calculated and reference sum signals, the use of the IC card is permitted.

  • Patent number: 4687536
Abstract: Apparatus for positioning and attaching a reinforcing ring in coaxial relationship to a floppy disk, includes a force translating mechanism mounted for movement to and from a resiliently mounted circular receiving member. A cylindrical positioning member, connected to the force translating mechanism, has first and second concentric reference surfaces corresponding respectively to the inner diameter of the reinforcing ring, which is carried by the force translating member, and the inner diameter of the floppy disk, which is disposed about the receiving member.

  • Patent number: 4600843
Abstract: Analog switches are connected between corresponding photodiodes and a common output line. The analog switches are sequentially scanned in response to scanning pulses. During the ON period of each scanning pulse, the corresponding analog switch is turned on twice. A first circuit produces a first signal, including an image signal component and a noise signal component, when the analog switch is turned on for the first time, and produces a second signal including only the noise signal component, when the analog switch is turned on for the second time. A second circuit produces the signal derived from the difference between the first and second signals, i.e., the image signal.
