  • Patent number: 6906411
Abstract: In a multi-layer substrate module receiving from an external earth node supply of a reference potential for grounding, a plurality of ground lines are provided respectively corresponding to a plurality of internal circuits. Moreover, a common node for coupling the ground lines is provided in an insulating layer of the multi-layer substrate module. The common node is electrically coupled to the earth node through a ground pin terminal shared by the plurality of internal circuits. Preferably, the common node is provided in the lowest insulating layer of the multi-layer substrate module. Thus, parasitic inductance of the portion through which an earth current flows, that is, the portion common to the plurality of internal circuits, can be suppressed with a small number of ground pin terminals. Accordingly, the inflow phenomenon of the earth current between the plurality of internal circuits is prevented, enabling stable operation.

  • Publication number: 20050040632
Abstract: A light emitting unit emits a light in a light emitting direction, which is the direction to an object, the light having a distributed pattern in a predetermined direction. A photographing device obtains an image of the object along with a photographing direction. A holding mechanism holds the light emitting unit and the photographing apparatus in such a relation that (a) the photographing direction is not in a plane that includes both the light emitting direction and the predetermined direction of the distributed pattern, and (b) the photographing direction is not parallel to the light emitting direction. A distance deriving unit derives a distance between the object and a predetermined position based on the image obtained by the photographing device.

  • Patent number: 6841914
Abstract: An arc length in contact with a commutator of two brushes in a rotational direction of a motor is defined as not more than 5% of an outer rim length or circumference of the commutator, i.e., not more than ?A/2O, where A is an outside diameter of the commutator. A number of shorted segments of the commutator, which short is caused by the brush, can be minimized so that reduction in output of the motor can be prevented. As a result, the motor employed in a car product or an electric tool can be downsized and made lighter.

  • Patent number: 6819020
Abstract: The present invention provides for its object a compact electric motor effective to provide a high reliability against the leakage of grease from a bearing on one side adjacent the output shaft or the ingress of oil from a counterpart machine. The compact electric motor 1 has a wall 14 having a predetermined gap around an output shaft 3 between a commutator 7 and a bearing 6, wherefore in the event of leakage of grease from the bearing 6 on an output side or ingress of oil from the counterpart machine, it is possible to prevent deposition on the commutator 3 and the brush 5 and, hence, to avoid an abnormal wear of the brush 5 and reduction in performance of the compact electric motor 1.

  • Publication number: 20030161537
Abstract: An object recognizing apparatus can execute accurate object recognition based on dictionaries each created from a predetermined number of patterns, by computing a similarity between a subspace in each dictionary and a subspace created from input images. In this apparatus, images of a to-be-identified object obtained by an image input unit is expressed in the form of an input subspace by an inter-subspace-angle computing unit. The angles between the input subspace and the subspace of each dictionary stored in a dictionary storing unit is computed. An identifying unit identifies a to-be-identified object based on the angles (the degrees of similarity) computed by the inter-subspace-angle computing unit.

  • Patent number: 6531991
Abstract: A hemispherical dielectric resonator is arranged on a metal substrate to make a flat surface of the hemispherical dielectric resonator contact with the metal substrate, and a dielectric wave-guiding channel is connected with a curved side surface of the hemispherical dielectric resonator. Therefore, a dielectric resonance antenna in which the hemispherical dielectric resonator and the dielectric wave-guiding channel are placed on the same metal substrate is obtained. A signal transmitting through the dielectric wave-guiding channel is fed in the hemispherical dielectric resonator, the hemispherical dielectric resonator is resonated, and an electromagnetic wave is radiated. Therefore, the dielectric resonance antenna functions as a wave radiation device.

  • Patent number: 6483598
Abstract: An image processing portion for conducting the specified processing of an image to be reproduced by an image forming portion based on the processed image data is constructed as a single control portion. Consequently, the development of a variety of digital copying machines requires preparation of specially designated control boards according to levels of the products. This makes machines expensive and requires users to pay a considerable initial cost.

  • Publication number: 20020152366
Abstract: A parallel computer of this invention includes a plurality of memory elements and a plurality of processing elements and each of the processing elements is connected to logically adjacent memory elements. For example, the processing elements which corresponds to a logical position (i, j) is connected to the memory elements which correspond to a plurality of logical positions (i, j), (i, j+1), (i+1, j) and (i+1, j+1). It is preferable if each of the memory elements can be accessed from the exterior. According to this invention, efficient memory access can be made and the parallel processing can be performed at high speed without increasing the hardware amount and making the control operation complicated. Further, the operation speed of the image processing can be enhanced by constructing an image memory by use of a plurality of memory elements and causing the processing element to effect the image processing in a distributed and cooperative manner.

  • Patent number: 6466685
Abstract: An image pattern of an object is inputted. An input subspace calculation section calculates an input subspace from the image pattern. A dictionary subspace calculation section calculates a dictionary subspace from a learning pattern of each object. A constraint subspace calculation means calculates a constraint subspace from a plurality of input subspaces previously calculated according to constraints to suppress unnecessary patterns. A projection section projects the input subspace and the dictionary subspace onto the constraint subspace. A recognition section recognizes the object by comparing the projected input subspace with the projected dictionary subspace.
