    Abstract: In a neighborhood of a display area in a liquid crystal display formed is a barrier for acquiring foreign matters. A method of manufacturing the barrier has a step of forming a TFT and forming the barrier of the same materials as a plurality of materials constituting the TFT at the same time. Thus provided is a manufacturing method which allows the foreign matters caused by a brush cleaning to be held back and acquired outside the display area and avoids a defect due to a short circuit made by the foreign matters between adjacent pixels or with a counter electrode substrate.
