  • Publication number: 20030203233
Abstract: A coating material has a first layer deposited on a base material and a second layer deposited on the first layer. The first layer is made of a Ni-base alloy or a Co-base alloy containing carbon as an unavoidable impurity. The second layer is made of a hard material containing carbide and a metal component. The first layer serves as a barrier for preventing carbon from being diffused from the second layer into the base material to prevent the base material from being carburized.

  • Patent number: 6623251
Abstract: A rod body (30) is formed of magnetostrictive material and includes one end portion (30a) fixed, and a piston (35) is fixed to the other end portion (35b) of the rod body (30). The piston (35) is slidably disposed within a cylinder (36) in which there is formed a pump chamber (37). A suction port (39) for sucking lubricating oil into the pump chamber (37) is formed in the cylinder (36), while a suction valve (40) for preventing the lubricating oil from flowing out from the suction port (39) is disposed in the suction port (39). In the cylinder (36), there is disposed a nozzle (20) which communicates with the pump chamber (37) and has a sectional area smaller than the lubricating oil passage sectional area of the suction valve (40). There is disposed a coil (43) outside the rod body (30) and, to the coil (43), there is connected a control device (6) for controlling the supply of a current to be supplied to the coil (43).

  • Publication number: 20030096653
Abstract: A power train includes a driving shaft and a follower shaft connecting to the driving shaft by way of a first joint. The follower shaft is adapted to slide relative to the driving shaft in an axial direction. The follower shaft includes: a holder shaped substantially into a cylinder, and a tubular shaft section coupled with the holder in the axial direction. The first joint includes a member defining an outer diameter. The holder holds therein the member of the first joint. The tubular shaft section coupled with the holder in the axial direction causes an inner curl to a second joint coupling the holder and the tubular shaft section. The inner curl defines an inner diameter greater than the outer diameter of the member of the first joint.

  • Publication number: 20030068194
Abstract: A joint structure for a power transmitting member comprising a fiber rein forced plastic tube, a joint comprising a joint portion for joining to an end portion of the tube, and a sealing portion formed on an end of the tube side of the joint portion, wherein the joint portion and the sealing portion are disposed in an interior of the tube, a liquid packing compound for sealing between the tube and the joint, wherein the liquid packing compound fills at least an area between the sealing portion and the tube, wherein the sealing portion has a tapered surface, whose diameter increases toward the end of the tube. Thereby, when the joint portion is joined to the end of the tube, a clearance between the tube and the joint portion is entirely filled with the liquid packing compound.

  • Patent number: 6176619
Abstract: A water lubricated bearing or water lubricated seal using water as a lubricant. The bearing or seal has: a rotary member secured directly or indirectly to a rotary side, and a stationary member secured directly or indirectly to a stationary side and facing the rotary member for making sliding contact therewith. A substrate of either one of the rotary member and the stationary member is a metallic material and a thin titanium nitride film is formed on the sliding surface thereof. The other member is made of a non-brittle material or a film of hard material is formed on the sliding surface thereof. Thereby, a coefficient of friction of the bearing or seal is reduced and a wear resistance of the same is improved.

  • Patent number: 6123623
Abstract: A vehicle propeller shaft and a method thereof has a balancer. The shaft has a slip joint having a first portion with male splines and a second portion with complementary female splines. The male and female splines are joined together with a spline clearance. A first univeral joint member is connected to the first portion of the slip joint and a second univeral joint member is connected to the second portion of the slip joint. The shaft further has first and second connected members each having a flange section. The first connecting member is connected to and extends axially outwardly from the first univeral joint member. The second connecting member is connected to and extends axially outwardly from the second universal joint member. A phase-changing restricting member is fixed at an outer peripheral portion of the slip joint to restrict the change of a locational relative phase between the male and female splines, which change is caused by the spline clearance between the male and female splines.
