    Abstract: A 1-(2-benzothiazolylthio)-piperidine compound of the formula: ##STR1## WHEREIN R is a lower alkyl group substituted at least at the 3, 4 and/or 5 positions and n is an integer from 1 to 3, which is prepared by the reaction of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole or its reactive derivative with an alkylated piperidine or its N-halogenated derivative and useful as a vulcanization accelerator having an improved scorching property.
