  • Publication number: 20030123087
Abstract: In a method of image compression in which vertical and horizontal white skipping are performed, data compression is performed in the regions containing black pixels other than the skipped regions. While vertical and horizontal white skipping being performed, in the other regions, regions are detected in which pixel values change in smooth fashion, such as the outlines of letters and encoding is performed using the pixel value of the leading column of the region, number of columns and amount of change of the pixel values. As a result, the compression factor of the image can be increased and a considerable contribution made to reduce the storage capacity for storage of data and reduce the time required for data transmission.

  • Publication number: 20020163530
Abstract: In the first stage, a merging position relationship (a rotation angle, and/or presence/absence of mirror image flipping) between two images is identified by using reduced images, and a rough overlapping region is detected. In the second stage, an exact overlapping position, an inclination, etc. are detected. In the third stage, the two images are merged by using the process results of the first and the second stages.

  • Publication number: 20020122607
Abstract: Hand-held information equipment provided integrally with an image reader reads out image data of a data storage unit by means of a retrieval data creation requesting unit and sends them to an information processor. The information processor converts the image data into text data for retrieval by means of a character recognition unit and creates indexes by means of an index creation unit. On receipt of thus created text data and indexes, the hand-held information equipment combines the text data and indexes with the image data for entry into a data storage unit by means of a retrieval data entry unit.

  • Publication number: 20020113992
Abstract: A storage program for smoothly conveying an information transmission destination and information, which are required at the time of an information exchange between an enterprise side and a consumer side, is converted into pattern information, and distributed to consumers. The storage program renders assistance for information conveyance that suits an environment surrounding the consumer side, for example, depending on whether or not to make a connection to a network, etc. Additionally, a prize by which winning/losing is determined on the spot can be implemented by storing an ID number of a prize draw winner in pattern information. According to the present invention, a bidirectional information exchange between an enterprise side and a consumer side can be smoothly made. At that time, troublesomeness of the operations of both the enterprise and the consumer sides can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20020051573
Abstract: An image data is inputted by using a device such as a document scanner. The input image data is scanned in a square block unit of M×N pixels, and blocks that satisfy specific conditions is detected based on the scanning process. In one example, a ratio of white pixels and black pixels falls within scanned blocks is used as the specific condition to detect those blocks. Then a region that neighbored by the other blocks is detected, and is extracted as a two-dimensional code region.

  • Publication number: 20020032815
Abstract: A user specifies image data to be transferred and the conversion form of the image data. An information processing device instructs an image data obtaining device to transfer the specified image data. The transferred image data is converted into data in the form specified by the user. The image data to be transferred and the specification of its conversion form are simultaneously received, so that the image data is transferred and converted at the same time. Accordingly, user operations are reduced and user operability can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20020030686
Abstract: The image display device of the present invention records information, such as the display page number, display size, display position, etc., of a display image in a non-volatile storage unit when power is switched off. If there is no user's display operation during a specific time period while the device is operated, display information is stored. When power is switched on or when a page is switched, the display information is read from the non-volatile storage unit and the image is displayed on a display unit based on the display information. In this way, user friendliness can be improved and the efficiency of user operability can be improved. The number of times of writing in the non-volatile storage unit can also be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20020002570
Abstract: One document image is divided according to attributes such as a character, a graphic, a table, etc., and the divided partial images are stored as one file. For example, each of the partial images is stored by being assigned with a priority, reduced in stages, and compressed with a compression method suitable for each of the attributes. If a user, etc. issues the instruction for making more of a desired portion visible and easy to view when he or she displays the document image, the user can freely make an easy-to-view display that the user desires according to the contents of the instruction. For example, the document image can be displayed by making an empty space between partial images smaller, a partial image with a higher priority can be displayed earlier, a specified partial image can be displayed larger, etc.

  • Publication number: 20010028737
Abstract: The present invention concerns an image processing device and an image processing method for processing a decoded image, and its objective is to optimally binarize a decoded original. After the respective density histograms of colors R, G, and B have been drawn, the hierarchical relationship between the low-density-side peak value and high-density-side peak value is investigated. A color component which is to become a binarization object is determined based on the comparison results on the number of color components whose high-density-side peak value is/are higher and the number of color components whose low-density-side peak value is/are higher, and the color of the pixel to be outputted is determined based on the comparison of the pixel with a threshold value.

  • Patent number: 6054974
Abstract: Each time line pixel data is read out from a memory in accordance with an order of display lines for a liquid crystal panel, it is compared with each line pixel data in the memory, thereby detecting a plurality of lines which can be simultaneously written. Subsequently, a writing display of a plurality of lines of the liquid crystal panel is executed by using the same line pixel data.

  • Patent number: 5914732
Abstract: A head drive waveform generation device and a head drive waveform generation method that do not require large-capacity memory during mounting on a printer are disclosed. The head drive waveform generation device generates and outputs, based on head drive waveform data consisting of a plurality of waveform data elements that comprise inclination values serving as information for specifying signal changes per unit of time, and interval widths serving as information for specifying time intervals during which the inclination values are used, head drive waveforms whose magnitude varies over time in accordance with the inclination values within the waveform data elements, during the time intervals specified by the interval widths within the waveform data elements.
