  • Publication number: 20220091344
Abstract: The fiber optic adapter according to the present disclosure may include an adapter housing defining a channel to receive a fiber optic connector having one or more ferrules, and a first shutter and a second shutter attached to opposing sidewalls of the adapter housing. Each of the first and second shutters have a first member and a second member. The first member is configured to extend into the channel. the first members of the first and second shutters are sized and shaped to cooperatively close the channel. At least one of the first member is resiliently movable upon insertion of the fiber optic connector into the channel to open the channel. The fiber optic adapter may prevent the entry of the dust and other debris.

  • Patent number: 11275217
Abstract: A field installable fiber optic connector is formed without the need to splice two opposing optical fibers together. A ferrule flange assembly with one or more crimp zones secures an optical fiber therein. The assembly is secured within a plug frame housing that has a bias spring, both secured therein by an extender cap. A cable retainer with at least two wings secures the optical cable when a retainer nut is screwed onto a backpost of the extender cap.

  • Publication number: 20210341681
Abstract: Reduced-profile connection components are described. The reduced-profile connection components are configured to connect various data transmission elements, including cables, network devices, and computing devices. A non-limiting example of a connection component includes a fiber optic connection component, including connectors, adapters, and assemblies formed therefrom. In some embodiments, the connection components may include mechanical transfer (MT) and multi-fiber push-on/pull-off (MPO) connection components, such as MT ferrules and MPO adapters. The reduced-profile connection components configured according to some embodiments have a smaller profile and/or require less parts to achieve a connection compared to conventional connection components. In some embodiments, the reduced-profile connection components may be used with conventional connection components. For example a reduced-profile connector may use a conventional MT ferrule to establish a connection within a conventional MPO adapter.

  • Patent number: 11131814
Abstract: Connector assemblies are described herein. For example, a connector assembly including: a housing configured to accept a first ferrule and a second ferrule. The connector assembly may also have a latch component that is removably connected to the housing. The connector may furthermore include a push-pull tab removably connected to the housing and configured to move horizontally along the outer surface of housing when a biasing force is applied in at least one of a forward direction and a rearward direction. Accordingly, the push-pull tab can compress the latch component when moving horizontally along the housing, and an inverted ramp at a proximal end of the push/pull, the ramp aides in depressing the latch downward to release the connector from a receptacle.

  • Patent number: 11092758
Abstract: A mechanical transfer ferrule is formed from a top housing and a bottom housing secured together with a plural of clips, catches and snap from a distal end of the housing portions to a proximal end of the housing portions. A plural of upper grooves formed in the upper housing and a plural of lower grooves formed in the lower housing accept a plural of optical fiber provided by a ribbon cable at a distal end of the mechanical transfer ferrule. At a proximal end of the upper housing is a pressure surface received in a pressure surface cut-out in the lower housing, where the pressure surface secures and orients the optical fiber within the channels formed by the upper and lower grooves to aid in repeated mating with a corresponding mechanical transfer ferrule and polishing the end face of the plural of optical fibers.

  • Publication number: 20210124131
Abstract: A micro connector kit including a ferrule assembly, an optical sub-assembly (“OSA”) and a micro connector. The ferrule assembly is coupled to an optical fiber and includes a ferrule. The OSA can receive an electric signal and transmit an optical signal or receive an optical signal and transmit an electric signal. The OSA includes a receptacle sized and shaped to receive the ferrule of the ferrule assembly to form an optical connection between the ferrule assembly and the OSA. The micro connector secures the optical connection between the ferrule assembly and the OSA. The micro connector includes a micro connector housing that forms a direct, mating connection with the OSA to secure the optical connection between the ferrule assembly and the OSA. The connection is made using only a very small space, allowing more ferrule assembly and OSA connections to be made in a smaller area.
