  • Patent number: 8441619
Abstract: A photodetector capable of improving dynamic range for input signals is provided. This photodetector includes a photoelectric converting portion, a charge separating portion, a charge accumulating portion, a barrier electrode formed the charge separating portion and the charge accumulating portion, and a barrier-height adjusting portion electrically connected to the barrier electrode. Undesired electric charges such as generated when environment light is incident on the photoelectric converting portion are removed by the charge separating portion. A potential barrier with an appropriate height is formed under the barrier electrode by applying a voltage to the barrier electrode according to an electric charge amount supplied from the charge separating portion to the barrier-height adjusting portion. Electric charges flowing from the charge separating portion into the charge accumulating portion over the potential barrier are provided as an output of the photodetector.

  • Patent number: 7876422
Abstract: A spatial information detecting device is provided, which is capable of reducing the possibility that a saturation phenomenon is caused by the influence of an environmental light. This device includes a photoelectric converting portion for receiving a signal light from a target space to generate electric charges, a charge separating portion for separating electric charges corresponding to a constant amount of a bias component as undesired electric charges from the electric charges generated by the photoelectric converting portion, a charge accumulating portion for accumulating the remaining electric charges as effective electric charges reflecting a fluctuation component of the signal light, a barrier control electrode for forming a potential barrier between the charge separating portion and the charge accumulating portion, and a charge take-out portion for outputting the effective electric charges as an received-light output.

  • Publication number: 20050009313
Abstract: An internal wire is formed via an oxide film on the front surface of a semiconductor substrate so as to extend toward the boundary relative to an adjacent integrated circuit region. An upper supporting base is fixedly formed on the front surface of the semiconductor substrate by means of a resin layer of epoxy adhesive or the like, and a lower supporting base is fixedly formed on the back surface of the semiconductor substrate by means of a resin layer of epoxy adhesive or the like, whereby a laminated body is formed. The resin layer and the internal wire are partially removed, leaving a portion of the laminated body, to thereby form an inverted-V shaped groove (a cut-off groove) where a part of the internal wire is exposed to the outside. Thereafter, the resulting cut-off groove is exposed to plasma atmosphere to thereby dissolve, and thus remove, any remaining resin fragments attached to the exposed end portion of the internal wire.

  • Publication number: 20040121562
Abstract: A semiconductor device manufacturing method comprises a step of forming a laminated structure by adhering, on a semiconductor substrate including a plurality of integrated circuits, a carrier member covering a region in which the plurality of integrated circuits are formed, with an insulating resin interposed between the semiconductor substrate and the carrier member, a step of cutting a notch into the laminated structure so as to cut the semiconductor substrate together with the insulating resin while allowing at least a portion of the carrier member to remain uncut, and a dicing step for dividing the laminated structure by cutting the carrier member. The notch cutting step is performed while cooling a dicing saw used to cut the semiconductor substrate.
