  • Patent number: 7433411
Abstract: A decoding apparatus for selectively decoding compressed video or audio signal included in a data signal. The decoding apparatus includes a demultiplexer that receives and separates a data signal from a compressed input signal. A video decoder and an audio decoder are provided to decode compressed video or audio signals stored in a decoder buffer. The decoding apparatus uses a memory to store the data signal separated by the demultiplexer, and a CPU to analyze the data signal stored in the memory. The CPU causes the data signal analyzed by the CPU to be stored in the decoder buffer if the analyzed data signal includes a compressed video signal or a compressed audio signal, and the compression method used for the compressed video signal or the compressed audio signal included in the data signal can be decoded by the video decoder or the audio decoder.

  • Publication number: 20080218628
Abstract: A decoder apparatus which includes a de-multiplexer, which is configured to divide motion picture data from a transport stream, a video decoder, which is configured to decode the divided motion picture data, and a first re-formatter on-screen unit, which is configured to display motion picture data and at least one of first and second graphic data on a screen. The first re-formatter on-screen unit converts motion picture data of a first aspect ratio, which is decoded by the video decoder, and first graphics data, which is produced by applying information relating to a caption corresponding to the motion picture data, into a second aspect ratio, when outputting the motion picture data of the first aspect ratio after conversion into the second aspect ratio, without converting the aspect ratio of second graphic data, which is produced by applying information relating to a program guide.

  • Patent number: 7375761
Abstract: A receiver includes a motion picture data decoder which decodes motion picture data to obtain decoded motion picture data, a memory which stores the decoded motion picture data, a video processing unit which mixes the decoded motion picture data with first graphics data and converts the motion picture data to obtain first on-screen data mixed and first format-converted motion picture data, and a second on-screen data multiplexer which mixes the decoded motion picture data with second graphics data to obtain second on-screen data-mixed motion picture data. A first output device outputs the first on-screen data mixed and first format-converted motion picture data, a second output device outputs the second on-screen data mixed motion picture data.

  • Publication number: 20070297461
Abstract: In a digital broadcasting signal receiving/recording/reproducing apparatus, a recorded program can be immediately reproduced without performing complicated operations. Only a desired program and information related to the desired program are separated to be extracted from the digital broadcasting signal. Then, the separated/extracted broadcasting signal is supplied to a recording/reproducing apparatus. In the recording/reproducing apparatus, the supplied broadcasting signal is recorded, and the recorded program can be immediately reproduced without complicated manipulating operations during the signal reproducing operation.

  • Publication number: 20070272399
Abstract: A heat sink includes a first heat pipe having a flat plate-shape and a second heat pipe connected perpendicularly to the first heat pipe. The first heat pipe has a first wick provided along an inner surface thereof. The second heat pipe has a second wick provided along an inner surface thereof. Each of end portions of the first and second wicks in a connecting portion of the first and second heat pipes has a comb-toothed part formed in a convexoconcave form like teeth of a comb so that the first and second wicks are connected by the comb-toothed parts fitting to each other. The comb-toothed parts of the second wick traverses an interior of the first heat pipe and contacts with the first wick on an opposite side.

  • Publication number: 20070183747
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a digital signal recording and playback apparatus for, even in the case of a program whose recording is not permitted (for example, Never Copy), performing, on the digital signal receiving side, recording and playback control that is limited to time shifting. In order to achieve the above object, there is provided a digital signal recording and playback apparatus that writes digital signals to different recording areas on the recording medium, the recording areas including a first recording area to which an ordinary digital signal is written, and a second recording area to which an encrypted digital signal having a copy restriction control flag is written, the digital signal recording and playback apparatus erasing, under specified conditions, an encryption key of the digital signal written to the second recording area.

  • Publication number: 20050276567
Abstract: If programs are always recorded according to a decision that is made-based on the user preferences survey results or specific categories and user's recording instruction, the user will lose the opportunity to view programs of categories other than the user preferences. Further, if the entire viewable broadcast is recorded without any selection, a problem arises that there are required greatly increased storage capacity and greatly increased capacity of processing the bit rate required for the recording.
