  • Patent number: 8371848
Abstract: A diagnostic/treatment instrument such as a handpiece equipped with a dental treatment tool, etc. is provided with a light radiating unit that can distinctively detect a dental lesion, to facilitate the treatment of the lesion. A light source for emitting light that can distinctively detect the lesion is mounted near the head of the handpiece to which a diagnostic/treatment tool can be attached. The light emitted from the light source illuminates an area forward of the diagnostic/treatment tool. Alternatively, the light source comprises a plurality of light-emitting devices which are arranged around the periphery of the forward end of the handpiece head in such a manner as to encircle the diagnostic/treatment tool, and radiates light to illuminate the area forward of the diagnostic/treatment tool.

  • Patent number: 7570984
Abstract: A diagnostic imaging apparatus of hand piece type suitable for medical or dental use, comprising a main body held by operator's fingers, a luminous means for irradiating at least one of lights selected from excitation light, infrared light and ultraviolet light, and an imaging means provided in a forward portion of the main body. The imaging means comprises a solid-state image sensing device and an optical means for forming an optical image of a diagnosis object to be examined on the solid-state image sensing device and is so constructed as to output a predetermined diagnostic image information by receiving the light reflected from the diagnosis object and/or the fluorescence generated from the diagnosis object when irradiation of light from the luminous means to the diagnosis object is performed.

  • Publication number: 20080017787
Abstract: A medical living body observation apparatus, an intraoral photography system and a medical treatment appliance which can be used conveniently by a general user at home as well as a technician, e.g. a dentist or a physician. There is provided an irradiation means (2) comprising an exciting light emission section (2a) emitting an exciting light for causing a lesion to radiate fluorescence, and an illumination light emission section (2b) emitting a light for illuminating the periphery of the lesion. The irradiating means (2) can simultaneously irradiate the illumination light and the exciting light.
