  • Publication number: 20070292339
Abstract: An iron oxide whisker of high aspect ratio or titanium oxide whisker of high aspect ratio that is useful as a magnetic material for magnetic recording, a part of micromachine, etc.; and a structure having such a whisker erected on a basal plate that is useful as a catalyst, etc. There is provided an iron oxide whisker of 5 nm to 2 ?m diameter and ?20 aspect ratio wherein the content of non-iron metal atoms is ?10 at %, and provided a titanium oxide whisker of 5 nm to 20 ?m diameter and ?5 aspect ratio wherein the content of non-titanium metal atoms is ?10 at %. Further, there is provided a structure, such as a basal plate having these whiskers densely erected thereon. These whiskers excel in magnetic properties, etc., and the structures having these erected exert excellent characteristics, such as large contact area as a catalyst and freedom from clogging, and hence are useful.

  • Patent number: 5702993
Abstract: A triaxial fabric composed of carbon fiber strands is provided, which has a crimp releasing ratio (L'-L)/L satisfying ?(L.sub.0 -L)/L.sub.0 !.times.0.7.gtoreq.(L'-L)/L.gtoreq.0. Since the crimps of the fiber strands composing the fabric are preliminarily fixed, fiber breakage due to abrasion in the intersecting portions of the fabric is prevented, whereby a high quality triaxial fabric is obtained. A method for the production of such a fabric is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5122210
Abstract: A process for producing a bicycle frame of a fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) including the steps of: forming parts of a bicycle frame such as an upper pipe, a lower pipe, a vertical pipe, a chain stay and a rear fork, or a combination thereof, with an FRP; arranging the bicycle frame parts in a structure of the bicycle frame; forming, with an FRP, lug portions onto the arranged bicycle frame parts at a required position whereat the bicycle frame parts are to be connected and fixed to each other; and curing all of the lug portions at one time, to thereby simultaneously accomplish an assembling of the bicycle frame.
