Patent number: 7817229Abstract: In a transflective type LCD provided with a transparent region and a reflection region in each pixel, when an irregular film 11 is formed on an active matrix substrate 12 to form irregularities of a reflection electrode film 6, the irregular film 11 is specifically formed to almost the same film thickness in both the transparent region and the reflection region to provide substantially the same inter-substrate gap in these two regions so that they may have almost the same V-T characteristics and also the reflection electrode film 6 made of Al/Mo is formed so as to overlap with a transmission electrode film 5 made of ITO all around an outer periphery of the transmission electrode film 5 by a width of at least 2 ?m, thus suppressing electric erosion from occurring between the ITO and Al substances at the edge of the transmission electrode film 5.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2004Date of Patent: October 19, 2010Assignee: NEC LCD Technologies, Ltd.Inventors: Michiaki Sakamoto, Satoshi Ihida, Hidenori Ikeno, Masaki Shinohara, Shigeru Kimura, Kenji Morio, Kazurou Saeki

Patent number: 6400431Abstract: By fitting a planar microlens array provided with one or more marks with a liquid crystal panel provided with one or more corresponding marks, it is possible to align the position of both exactly. The marks according to the present invention may comprise rod shapes, cross shapes, ring shapes, or square shapes, among others.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1998Date of Patent: June 4, 2002Assignee: Micro Optics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kenji Morio, Satoshi Taniguchi, Kenjiro Hamanaka

Patent number: 6366406Abstract: A planar microlens array includes an array of convex microlenses made of an ultraviolet-curable synthetic resin having a high refractive index and disposed on a surface of a base glass plate. A cover glass plate is bonded to the array of convex microlenses by an adhesive layer made of an ultraviolet-curable synthetic resin having a low refractive index. A film made of an ultraviolet-curable synthetic resin is applied to a surface of the base glass plate remote from the array of convex microlenses. The film serves to prevent the planar microlens array from being warped when the ultraviolet-curable synthetic resin of the array of convex microlenses and the adhesive layer are cured.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 1999Date of Patent: April 2, 2002Assignee: Micro Optics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kenjiro Hamanaka, Kenji Morio

Patent number: 6129866Abstract: For providing a stamper for forming a planar micro-lens array, a stamper is prepared by forming plural concave portions 2 for forming lens portion upon a stamping surface thereof, and a trap portion 3 is provided surrounding said plural concave portions and continuing until an outer edge thereof. Then, onto the stamping surface, on which a release agent 4 is applied, there is applied a high refractive index resin 5, and a glass substrate 6 is pressed onto the high refractive index resin 5 to exude it. With this operation, the high refractive index resin 5 is filled into each of the plural concave portions 2, and any excess is received or accommodated in the trap portion 3, thereby preventing excess resin from being forced outside.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1998Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Assignee: Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kenjiro Hamanaka, Satoshi Taniguchi, Kenji Morio
