  • Publication number: 20150183595
Abstract: A sheet feeding apparatus includes a containing unit, a lifting and lowering unit, a loosening unit, a feed unit, a sheet-surface detection unit, an aligning member, a trailing-edge detection unit, a double-feed detection unit, and a control unit. Sheets, of a sheet bundle contained in the containing unit and lifted and lowered, are loosened by blowing air into the sheet bundle and fed. An end face of the contained sheet bundle is aligned on a trailing-edge side. The trailing-edge detection unit moves with the aligning member and detects a sheet surface of a top of the sheet bundle on the trailing-edge side. Where double feed from the containing unit is detected, a detection operation detects, in consideration of a trailing-edge detection unit result, whether the aligning member is located at a position at which the end face of the sheet bundle on the trailing-edge side is aligned.

  • Publication number: 20150162372
Abstract: An apparatus includes: a light source; a two-dimensional image sensor that receives reflected light from a subject including specular light of the source and outputs an image of the subject; and an optical member arranged in an optical path of light emitted from the source to the subject. When a specular position of the source in the subject arranged apart from the two-dimensional image sensor by a certain distance is defined as a first specular position, whereas a specular position of the source in the optical member is defined as a second specular position, a relative positional relation of the optical member and the source with respect to the two-dimensional image sensor is determined so that a difference between an incident angle from the source toward the first specular position and an incident angle from the source toward the second specular position is a reference value or more.

  • Patent number: 8953231
Abstract: Provided is a document reading apparatus capable of suppressing a shock that may occur when a trailing edge of a tabbed sheet passes through a roller pair. In an image reading section, when a document to be read is the tabbed sheet, a timing to start separation of the roller pair in response to detection of a trailing edge of the document is delayed by a time period corresponding to a tab length with respect to the timing to start separation when a document other than the tabbed sheet is conveyed. Thus, it is possible to prevent the shock when the trailing edge of the tabbed sheet passes through the roller pair, and to thereby suppress image reading failure due to the shock.

  • Patent number: 8953216
Abstract: An original reader capable of being downsized without requiring a large-capacity image memory. A conveying path conveys an original. Sensors are arranged on the conveying path, for detecting the conveyed original. CCD line sensors read the conveyed original. A CPU of the image reader decides the size of the conveyed original based on the results of detection by the sensors. An image memory stores image data output from the line sensors. The CPU transmits the decided original size and the stored image data to a controller. When the CPU cannot decide the original size at a predetermined timing, it transmits one of original size candidates to the controller, as a provisional original size. When the size of the original decided afterwards is different from the provisional original size, the CPU retransmits the decided size of the original.

  • Patent number: 8794760
Abstract: An image processing apparatus for supporting imaging diagnosis of an eye is provided. A layer boundary of a retina region is detected from a tomographic image. A position where the detected layer boundary intersects with an upper or lower limit position of the image in the depth direction of the tomographic image is determined as a dividing position. The tomographic image is divided at the determined dividing position by a scan line in the depth direction of the tomographic image. Subsequently, whether the detection is a false detection is judged for each divided region. An average density value of the image outside the retina region according to the detected result is calculated for each divided region, and the detection in the divided region is judged to be a false detection if the average density value is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold.
