  • Patent number: 5734390
Abstract: A hybrid type image forming apparatus capable of forming a high quality image by using two image forming units having different resolution from each other, perform high throughput image forming by selecting most suitable image forming method or methods depending upon a kind of input image data, and reducing its running cost. In the apparatus, input image data of resolution of 300 dpi is separated into monochromatic image data and color image data. The monochromatic image data is converted into that of 600 dpi so that four pixels of an image of 600 dpi make one pixel of an image of 300 dpi. Then, a monochromatic image is formed on the basis of the monochromatic image data of 600 dpi by the image forming unit employing the electrophotograph method. A print medium on which the monochromatic image is formed is conveyed to the image forming unit employing the ink-jet printing method where a color image is formed on the basis of the color image data of 300 dpi.

  • Patent number: 5371608
Abstract: A scan optical apparatus is provided with a first light source for generating a beam for scan optically modulated based on an image signal, a second light source for generating a beam for jitter amount detection, a scanning device for deflecting the beams from the first light source and from the second light source to scan a surface to be scanned, an optical member disposed in the vicinity of the surface to be scanned or at a position substantially optically equivalent to the surface to be scanned, and a detecting device for detecting a beam reflected by the optical member and deflected by the scanning device. The optical member may have reflective portions and nonreflective portions which are repeatedly arranged in a main scan direction, or may be a corner cube array in which a plurality of corner cubes are arranged in the main scan direction. Further, the surface to be scanned may be a recording medium in a recording apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4484237
Abstract: An apparatus using microcomputing system for automatically setting the optimum performance characteristics of a magnetic tape used. When the type of a magnetic tape loaded into a tape recorder is detected, the microcomputing system sets the standard recording level and the standard recording bias level of the magnetic tape in a recording level setting circuit and a bias level setting circuit of the tape recorder, respectively. When an automatic setting instruction and a subsequent recording start instruction are issued, a test signal having a certain frequency range is recorded on the magnetic tape and reproduced therefrom. The reproduced test signal is then supplied to a level deviation detecting circuit which detects the level deviation between the test signal of a predetermined frequency and the reproduced test signal of the same frequency and the level deviation between components of the reproduced test signal which are of different frequency.
