  • Patent number: 6229096
Abstract: There are disclosed a nonwoven reinforcement for a printed wiring base board which nonwoven reinforcement contains a wet system nonwoven fabric constituted of thermotropic cystalline polyester fiber having a melting point of 290° C. or higher (component A) and a thermotropic cystalline polyester binder which has a melting point of 290° C. or higher and is in the form of a film having holes including at least 5 holes/mm2 each with an area of opening of 400 to 1000 &mgr;m2 (component B), the component A being fixed by the component B; a process for producing the above nonwoven reinforcement; a printed wiring base board produced from the above nonwoven reinforcement; and a printed wiring board produced from the above printed wiring base board. The nonwoven reinforcement and the printed wiring (base) board are excellent in various performances such as uniformity, dimensional stability, heat resistance and electrical characteristics such as dielectric constasnt and dielectric loss tangent.

  • Patent number: 5164431
Abstract: Provided is a process for producing molded articles having excellent flexural strength, flexibility and dimensional stability, which comprises autoclave-curing at not lower than 100.degree. C. an aqueous composition comprising a hydraulic material (A) and a polyvinyl alcohol (B) powder, said polyvinyl alcohol (B) powder being contained in an amount of 0.1 to 20% by weight based on the weight of said hydraulic material (A).Also provided are molded articles comprising a hydraulic material (A) and a polyvinyl alcohol (B), said polyvinyl alcohol (B) being contained in an amount of 0.1 to 20% by weight based on the weight of said hydraulic material (A), said molded article having a structure comprising said polyvinyl alcohol (B) having once dissolved and then solidified being dispersed therein in the form of islands. These molded articles have excellent flexural strength, flexibility and dimensional stability.

  • Patent number: 5047288
Abstract: Provided is a moldable sheet comprising a synthetic organic fiber nonwoven fabric for reinforcing resinous molded article and a resin composition having impregnated the nonwoven fabric. The nonwoven fabric comprises opened single filaments having a specific fineness and bundles of filaments laid parallel with one another having a specific total fineness distribution, said single filaments and said bundles of filaments being bonded with a binder of non-fiber form. By employing this construction, the nonwoven fabric can, when used for reinforcing resinous article, improve the impact resistance, i.e. falling ball impact resistance and Izod impact resistance, which have been poor with conventional glass-fiber reinforced resinous shaped articles, while maintaining the high mechanical strength of the resinous article.
