  • Publication number: 20200182120
Abstract: A retaining material that can sufficiently maintain the function of retaining a pollution control element in a pollution control device at high temperature. In one aspect, the retaining material has a mat shape and contains inorganic fiber material, with the retaining material containing: a surface layer containing inorganic colloid particles; and an internal region positioned further to the inside than the surface layer, impregnated with inorganic colloid particles and organic binder; wherein the surface layer contains inorganic colloid particles at a higher concentration than the internal region; and the amount of inorganic colloid particles in the internal region is 1 mass % to 10 mass % based on the total mass of the retaining material.

  • Patent number: 9670814
Abstract: A mounting member that can sufficiently suppress scattering of inorganic fiber material when a pollution control element is assembled in a casing, and that can maintain sufficiently high contact pressure between the inner surface of the casing and the pollution control element, even after the organic binder has combusted. The mounting member of the present invention is for wrapping and mounting a pollution control element (30) in a casing (20), and provides a mat (1) made from inorganic fiber material, and an aggregated substance (5) containing an organic binder and inorganic fine particles that is impregnated throughout most of the mat (1).

  • Patent number: 6485051
Abstract: A gas generator that can controllably allow the airbag to inflate and expand slowly at an initial stage of the inflation and thereafter inflate and expand rapidly so that the intended function of the airbag can be fulfilled. In the gas generator, an enclosed space (S) in a housing (1) is partitioned into two combustion chambers (3, 4), in which gas generating agents (6), a filtering member (7) and an igniter (8, 9) are arranged, respectively. The combustion chambers (3, 4) are communicated to each other through the filtering member (7). The igniters are operated with time difference so that the airbag can be inflated and expanded moderately by a small amount of gas generated in one combustion chamber at the initial stage of inflation and then is inflated and expanded rapidly by a large amount of gas generated in the respective combustion chambers, thus achieving multistage control of the expansion of the airbag.
