    Abstract: A reel around which a fine metal linear material, such as a filament for a tire cord, a saw wire, or the like, is wound, is formed by fixedly joining flanges (2) made of a steel sheet and having a hollow ring-shaped outer edge reinforcing portion (8) at an outer edge to both ends of a winding drum (1). In the outer edge reinforcing portion (8) of the flange (2), an outer edge portion of the flange (2) is bent back outward in a reel axial direction at a substantially right angle with respect to a substantially flat inner surface thereof and is then curled inward in a radial direction so that the metal linear material can be wound up to the very outer edge of the flange (2).

    Abstract: This invention provides a reel 1 for a fine metal wire comprising a drum 2, two flange bodies 3, and two flange reinforcing members 4 each of them made of thin steel metal. Each flange reinforcing members 4 is bent into L-shape in cross-section such that a flange side portion 4a is placed at a tilt angle ? of 4 +3/?3 degrees with respect to a vertical line. The flange side portion 4a of the flange reinforcing member 4 is brought into intimate contact with a flange 3b of the flange body to be fixed thereto by spot welding. As a result, a tensile stress is previously produced at the bent portion P, thereby substantially improving the strength and the repetitive usability.

    Abstract: This invention provides a reel 1 for a fine metal wire comprising a drum 2 made of thin steel metal, two flange bodies 3 made of thin steel metal and engaged with both ends of inner periphery of the drum 2, and two flange reinforcing members 4 made of thin steel metal, for engaging with both ends of the drum 2, and for coming into contact with a substantially entire surface of a flange of each flange body 3 from a drum side. All of the drum 2, the flange bodies 3, and the flange reinforcing members 4 are welded together by spot welding. The flange reinforcing members 4 are fitted into flange bodies 3. Each flange reinforcing members 4 is bent into L-shape in cross section such that a flange side portion 4a is placed at a tilt angle &thgr; of 4 degrees+3/−3 degrees with respect to a vertical line. And each flange reinforcing member 4 is ring-shaped, which has the flange side portion 4a and a drum side portion 4b that are separated from each other with a bent portion P being a boundary therebetween.

    Abstract: A base (17a) of a flat end engaging member (17) which protrudes from a hole (19) is fixed on an outside surface of a flange (15) installed at each end of a winding drum (14) in such a manner that the end engaging member (17) is fitted in a groove (16) provided at least at one point of an inside surface of the flange (15). A guide portion (18) is continuously provided on an upper side of the groove (16). The guide portion (18) is an inclined surface extending obliquely upward from each corner of the groove (16) to an outer peripheral edge of the flange (15). An engaging fragment (17b) which is bent toward a guide portion (18) side is provided in a tip portion of the end engaging member (17). Furthermore, the guide portion (18) and the engaging fragment 17b are provided with engaging portions (20) and (21) comprising recesses which are concaved in the same direction, respectively.

    Abstract: A reel for winding metal wire of the type having a hollow winding drum and flanges of sheet metal each having an inward cylindrical central bulge in the center thereof and extending into a respective end of the winding drum. The The reel is improved by providing a reinforcing ring at each end of the winding drum and having an L-shaped cross-section with a radial section and an axial section, the ring being at the junction between the winding drum and the respective flange, the radial section being welded to an inwardly facing face of the flange by a plurality of welds at intervals spaced circumferentially around the reel, and the axial section being on the winding drum with the end of said winding drum being on bulge, or being on the bulge with the end of the winding drum on the axial section, and being welded to thending drum and thelge by a further plurality of welds at intervals spaced around the circumference of the winding drum and the bulge.
