    Abstract: A substrate supporting device includes support elements for supporting a substrate, and positioning elements for contacting outer peripheries of the substrate to check horizontal movement thereof. A substrate sensor is disposed around the supporting device for detecting the substrate supported thereon. The supporting device is surrounded also by light projectors for horizontally projecting light having projection tracks overlapping, in a plan view, the substrate supported by the substrate supported device and extending at an angle to one another, and light receivers for receiving the projected light. The substrate sensor and light receivers input signals to a microcomputer for determining whether the substrate is correctly supported. A light projector may project a light beam toward the surface of the substrate supporting on the substrate supporting device, and cause the light beam to be reflected by the substrate surface.

    Abstract: In an engine generator having a work generator arranged at the upper side of an engine of a vertical crank shaft type, the output shaft of the engine projects upwards from the engine crank case so as to be connected to the rotor of the work generator. And the stator is arranged so as to encircle the rotor and to be encircled by an air induction casing. A cooling fan of a centrifugal blower type is located at the upper end of the rotor shaft with the blades thereof directed to the side of the generator so as to supply a cooling air flowing upwards to both the interior and the exterior of the stator during operation.

    Abstract: In a recording apparatus, a recording paper is separated from an image retaining member after the transfer of a toner image onto the recording paper by generating an a.c. corona discharge so as to eliminate or reduce electrostatic forces generated between the image retaining member and the recording paper. An insulator is arranged between the separating electrode and the recording paper during the a.c. corona discharge so as to moderate the sharpness of the spatial distribution of the corona discharge current.

    Abstract: A particulate vinyl chloride polymer having excellent processability and heat stability which comprises porous vinyl chloride polymer particles and alkyl vinyl polymers which are included in the porous particles. The particulate polymer is prepared by impregnating an alkyl vinyl compound in porous particles of a vinyl chloride polymer, polymerizing it, and in the course of the polymerization of the alkyl vinyl compound, adding an alkyl methacrylate to the polymerization system and continuing the polymerization. Since the thus obtained polymer has an improved melt-flowability and heat stability, it can be blended with a large quantity of an inorganic filler and can be molded with good processability.

    Abstract: In an electrophotographic copying machine of the type utilizing a single-component developer applied to a photosensitive member through the use of a magnetic brush; a regulating plate is positioned across the sleeve of the brush immediately prior to the juxtaposition of the sleeve and the photosensitive member in order to prevent spill-over of excess magnetic toner. This plate is preferably in addition to another regulating plate placed across the sleeve upstream of the first regulating plate where the developer is fed to the sleeve. Both plates have wider outer edges closely spaced to the sleeve to prevent rising of the developer over these outer edges when the magnetic force of the brush is weak and does not hold the developer to the sleeve.
