  • Patent number: 4715289
Abstract: This invention relates to a superior suppressing of vibration in a car body when a vehicle runs on a straight railroad and a curvilinear railroad. The invention is comprised of a fluid pressure-acting mechanism arranged between the car body and the truck along with springs for positively controlling a force acting between the car body and the truck with the supplied pressure fluid, an acceleration detector for detecting an acceleration of the car body, and means for determining a displacement generated relatively between the car body and the truck under a steady acceleration acting against the car body.

  • Patent number: 4445569
Abstract: The present invention relates to a laminated heat exchanger having a laminated construction consisting of a plurality of perforated heat transfer plates and spacers arranged alternatingly, the spacers defining a plurality of fluid passages between respective adjacent heat transfer plates, so that heat is exchanged between different fluids flowing in different fluid passages through the heat transfer across the heat transfer plates. More specifically, the invention is concerned with a heat exchanger of the type described above, wherein a plurality of separate scroll passages are formed by the spacer, so that local concentration of each fluid in its passage is avoided to remarkably improve the heat transfer efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4440093
Abstract: A vehicle tilt control apparatus has an acceleration detector for detecting vibration in horizontal and lateral direction of a car body, a fluidically operating mechanism disposed between the car body and a truck and compensation circuits for compensating a centrifugal force component and a jolting component, respectively, of the output of the acceleration detector. The outputs of the compensation circuits are added and the resulting output is fed back to actuate a servo valve to control the fluidically operating mechanism. In this manner, the riding comfort to the passengers when the vehicle passes through a curved area and for the jolting is improved.

  • Patent number: 4432216
Abstract: A split type cryogenic cooling apparatus comprising a refrigerator which permits a working gas of a high pressure and an operating temperature to generate cold heat, a cryostat accommodating a vessel containing liquefied fraction of the working gas together with an object to be cooled and a plurality of shield plates surrounding the vessel and maintained at respective temperature levels, and a communicating pipe system providing a communication between the refrigerator and the cryostat and having a vacuum heat insulation. Two or more stages of heat exchangers are disposed in the cryostat with their colder ends held in thermal contact with the shield plates and the vessel of temperature levels corresponding thereto, to thereby suppress an introduction of external heat into the cryostat.

  • Patent number: 4382413
Abstract: An earthquake-resistant crane including a plurality of girders supported on wheels for movement along rails includes a vertical vibration damping device to ensure safe operation of the crane. The vertical vibration damping device includes a resilient support for supporting the girders in a vertical direction, a vibration direction converting arrangement mounted between the girders and the wheels for converting vertical vibrations of the girders to a horizontal displacement of the wheels, and drive control device connected to the wheels. The vertical vibration damping device operates such that the vertical vibrations of the girders are converted to a horizontal displacement of the wheels to dissipate the energy of vibrations by the sliding friction produced between the wheels and the rails when the wheels move in the horizontal direction, whereby the amplitude of vibrations produced in response to the vertical vibrations of the girders can be reduced.
