  • Patent number: 6069413
Abstract: An apparatus for producing an alternating magnetic field by arraying a plurality of charged storage elements e.g. capacitors and a plurality of connecting elements e.g. transistors spatially around a physical area of magnetic field generation and in such a series circuit that electric current flows in one direction through the storage elements and in alternating directions around the physical area; and with pairs of the connecting elements interconnected with over-voltage protection elements.

Date of Patent: May 30, 2000
    Inventor: Kennan C. Herrick
  • Patent number: 4862042
Abstract: A device for producing and controlling the flow rate of bubble-like ionization discontinuities (30) in a gas discharge tube (10) which includes means to produce an alternating current at a frequency between 1500 and 8000 Hz and a voltage between 2000 and 12000 V (16), a capacitor (36) in series with the tube to prevent direct current flow through the tube, and means to produce asymmetry (18) between the positive portion and the negative portion of the alternating current through the tube, the asymmetry being time asymmetry or wave shape asymmetry, the degree of asymmetry influencing the rate of apparent bubble flow through the tube and the direction of asymmetry influencing the direction of the apparent bubble flow through the tube.

  • Patent number: 4768498
Abstract: A device to relieve traction from a patient, the traction imposed by a weight connected to a harness on the patient through a flexible element strung over a pulley wheel, the device including a reversible motor which turns a pulley wheel mounted on a shaft through a one-way clutch, the motor being freely mounted on the shaft and raising the weight when it turns in one direction to produce slack in the flexible element, and lowering the weight to impose traction force on the patient when it turns in the reverse direction.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 13, 1987
Date of Patent: September 6, 1988

  • Patent number: 4012732
Abstract: A security device includes an alarm that is actuated after a predetermined period of no human physical activity, which device includes a clock set to actuate the alarm after a predetermined period of inactivity, an activity sensor that resets the clock when human activity is sensed, and a means to sense an inanimate object, such as a set of keys, and which, when the inanimate object is absent, will not actuate the alarm when the predetermined time period has passed. There is also disclosed means to actuate the alarm when any activity is sensed if the inanimate object is absent.
