  • Publication number: 20160269570
Abstract: A system which allows wireless airtime units to be used as a medium of exchange. For example, with the novel wireless server system, wireless airtime units may be used as a form of currency by a user in exchange for other types of products or services. In addition, the novel system can be used to provide new types of incentives that reward users with airtime wireless units. Thus, wireless airtime units can be awarded to users that view electronic advertisements, visit desired web pages or purchase particular products. Users can in turn, use these wireless airtime units to obtain airtime for their wireless communications devices, or alternatively, to exchange the wireless airtime units for other goods and services.

  • Publication number: 20160078483
Abstract: A notification system comprises a plurality of claim checks and a plurality of communication device identifiers. The notification system further comprises a messaging module that is configured to receive an electronic notification of an event. The messaging module is further configured to associate at least one of the claim checks and one of the communication device identifiers with the event. The messaging module is also configured to generate a message that contains the associated claim check and transmit the message to a communications device identified by the communication device identifier. In one embodiment, the notification system further comprises a retrieval module that is responsive to a request to access the event. In another embodiment, the messaging module is configured to receive an electronic notification of a second event and associate the claim check and another communication device identifier with the message.

  • Publication number: 20120209554
Abstract: The location of an asset can be determined in three dimensions using pressure data from reference sensors in combination with conventional two-dimensional location technology, such as GPA or TDOA. In a building, reference sensors are distributed on multiple floors and transmit accurate pressure readings to a receiver. The asset also has a pressure sensing element and transmits the pressure at its location to the receiver. The asset pressure value is compared with the reference pressure sensor values to determine the floor in a building on which the asset is located. Thus, the combination of accurate two-dimensional location technology and pressure sensors can accurately determine the location of an asset in three dimensions.

  • Publication number: 20080254777
Abstract: A mobile device that facilitates automatic generation of metadata about data that is collected by the mobile device may include a processor and memory in electronic communication with the processor. Instructions may be stored in the memory. The instructions may be executable to collect data and to create an identifier that corresponds to the data that is collected. The instructions may also be executable to transmit a wireless communication signal that comprises the identifier. Transmitting the wireless communication signal may facilitate communication of the identifier to a location and telemetry system and may facilitate determination of metadata about the data by the location and telemetry system.

  • Publication number: 20040255037
Abstract: A system and method for authentication and security in a communication system is provided. The system provides for two-way or mutual authentication. In one embodiment, both the server and client must exchange valid certificates, otherwise communication will not be allowed to occur. This requirement is not limited to client/server, as server-to-server communication may also be required to exchange valid certificates. Furthermore, the user does not have to perform any special functions in order to exchange his/her certificate. The exchange of the certificates is transparent by way of the processes that are built into the system as a whole. The client provides the automatic interface to the certificate for purposes of exchange with services within the network. In one embodiment, the user initiates, through self-provisioning, a certificate signing request to the administrator system.

  • Publication number: 20010056473
Abstract: A system and method for retrieving information from the Internet with a digital text messaging capable phone. The system includes a retrieval computer, a plurality of user computers, and a plurality of content server computers interconnected via a communications medium, which includes the Internet. A user registers with the system and stipulates the information that they desire to remotely retrieve and provide the phone number of the cellular phone to which they wish the information to be provided. A user calls a phone number corresponding to the information that they wish to retrieve. The system employs a caller ID procedure to identify the caller and extracts the information from the content server maintaining the information. The system then sends a text message containing the information to the user's cellular phone. The system is adapted to provide the information retrieval at no incremental cost to the user.
