  • Patent number: 7784158
Abstract: A spool has a pair of spaced apart plates mounted on opposing sides of a central core. A flexible fabric sheet is positioned in contact with a face of one of the plates of the spool and across a peripheral edge of the plate. A clip includes a pair of legs joined at one end and extending around the core of the spool with the fabric thereby forced into contact with the core. With the legs so inserted between the plates the fabric is captured in the spool so that the spool and clip are not able to move on the fabric or be dislodged from it. The legs terminate with toe curved in opposing lateral directions and which are able to be mutually interlocked in an overlapping attitude.

  • Patent number: 7533168
Abstract: An autonomic grid computing mechanism. In embodiments, peer-to-peer platform protocols may be integrated with a grid computing system. Embodiments may use peer-to-peer platform protocols as the transport for the grid computing system. Embodiments may provide one or more of, but not limited to, the following capabilities to grid computing systems: self-deployment and self-configuration, self-updating, self-healing, node removal, master node backup, monitoring, administration, load balancing, grid brokering, decentralized grid, and multi-grid support. Peer-to-peer platform protocols may be used to automatically configure compute nodes. When a node comes up, the node searches for a master node using the peer-to-peer platform. When the node finds a master node, it provides node information to the master node using the peer-to-peer platform. The master node may send the node grid configuration information using the peer-to-peer platform and the node may self-configure as a compute node.

  • Patent number: 7467881
Abstract: A multipurpose ceiling fixture selectively receives and powers multiple components. A mounting strap supports a lamp socket, a battery socket, and plural power outlets for selected components. A cylindrical lamp housing within the fixture is attached to the mounting strap and a lamp is engaged with the lamp socket. An annular mounting chassis is adapted for receiving a plurality of the components which may include a loudspeaker; detectors of particles, heat, motion, sound and noxious gas; an audible alarm; a video cam; and an intercom. One may select only those components that are of interest to a particular installation and then can install such components into power sockets and on one or another of the several mounting surfaces. Of particular advantage is a mounting chassis that allows components a line of sight lateral to the fixture.

  • Publication number: 20080246258
Abstract: A burst disk for use in an inflator having an orifice. The burst disk includes a surface that may be disposed adjacent to the orifice. This surface includes a first side, a second side, and a non-circular perimeter, wherein at least one diagonal across the first side is greater than or equal to the diameter of the orifice. The burst disk may be generally square or rectangular in shape. By forming the burst disk in this manner, a lesser amount of raw material is needed to make the burst disk. Also, a lesser amount of material is wasted during the manufacturing process.

  • Publication number: 20070154322
Abstract: A pumping system for moving water of a swimming pool includes a water pump, a variable speed motor, and an arrangement for controlling the variable speed motor. The pumping system further includes an auxiliary device operably connected to the arrangement for controlling, and an arrangement for providing two-way communication between the arrangement for controlling and the auxiliary device. The arrangement for controlling is capable of receiving a parameter from the auxiliary device through the arrangement for providing two-way communication. In one example, the arrangement for controlling is capable of independently controlling the variable speed motor without receipt of a parameter from the auxiliary device. In addition or alternatively, the arrangement for controlling is operable to selectively alter operation of the motor based upon the parameter.
