  • Publication number: 20090216049
Abstract: Bis(dinitroalkyl)acetals and formals having the formula (1) particularly bis(2,2-dinitropropyl)acetal and bis(2,2-dinitropropyl)formal are produced by oxidative nitration of compounds having the formula (2): preferably via a sodium or other alkali metal, or alkaline earth metal, salt of compounds of Formula (2). Certain of the compounds of formula (1) are novel. All of the intermediates of formula (2) are novel and form another aspect of this invention, as does a process for their production by reacting an aldehyde with a nitroalkanol. The process can readily produce a mixture of the dinitro compounds known as BDNPA and BDNPF (also known as A/F) using the non-explosive intermediates, BNPA and BNPF, both of which are novel.

  • Patent number: 4516905
Abstract: A roll clamp for handling of rolls or other loads carried by a lift truck. The clamp includes a rotator having a rear base plate for being mounted upon the lift mast of the truck, permitting it to be raised or lowered to a vertical position. A frame is gimballed to the rotator front plate. Extending forwardly from the clamp assembly is a pair of clamp arms which are swingably disposed, or pivot relative to the frame for closing and opening by movement toward and away from each other. The rotator rotates the frame relative to the mast about a clamp rotation axis. Hydraulic cylinders selectively open and close the arms, which have clamp pads at their distal ends for engaging the load surfaces. The rotator base plate carries a swash ring defining a plane skewed relative to the axis of clamp rotation.

  • Patent number: 4394106
Abstract: A lift truck mechanism for handling glass sheets having a glass pack lifting frame. Gripping devices at the sides of the lifting frame engage sides of a glass pack. Feet at the bottom of the lifting frame support the glass pack on the frame. A framework of the mechanism attaches it to the lift mast of the lift truck, there being an operator control station platform extending rearwardly from the lifting frame above the lift mast. An intermediate frame is carried by the framework in selectively extendable relationship in front of the mast and there is a first pair of swinging frames swingably affixed to the intermediate frame for swinging movement on upright axes at the opposite sides of the intermediate frame. A second pair of swinging frames is provided, swingably affixed at proximal ends to the distal ends of the first pair of frames. Distal ends of the second pair of frames are pivoted to the lifting frame. A drag link interconnects the distal ends of the first pair of frames.

  • Patent number: 4300867
Abstract: A modular push-pull unit is provided for installation upon a walkie type fork lift pallet truck of the type having a power unit with tiller-operated drive wheel at one end and a pair of controllably liftable forks at the other with an apron proximate the power unit liftable with the forks. The forks are provided with bearings for tiltably mounting a split platen of the push-pull unit, which includes an upright frame interconnected with the apron by hydraulic cylinders for controlling tilt of the platen. The upright frame carries a scissors mechanism having a pusher plate adapter for pushing and pulling movement across the platen.

  • Patent number: 4287966
Abstract: A compact industrial truck includes a chassis having a power unit at the front and a single steerable drive wheel under the power unit. A pair of nonsteerable wheels is located at the rear of the chassis. Rearward of the power unit is a platform upon which an operator may stand while operating the truck, there being a steering arm interconnected with the drive wheel and accessible by the operator. A fork lift assembly is carried at the rear of the chassis and has a pair of forks extending rearwardly for lifting palletized loads, there being a fork actuation device preferably in the form of a hydraulic cylinder for selectively raising and lowering the forks. A coupler can be carried at least at one end of the chassis, and optionally at both ends, for coupling a trailer to the truck independently of the fork lift assembly. Control devices are accessible to the operator from the platform for controlling both the movement of the wheel and the raising and lowering of the forks.

  • Patent number: 3998345
Abstract: A side loader for use with fork lift trucks or the like having a support frame and a rotatable frame mounted on the support frame for rotation with respect to the support frame about a vertical axis. A reach apparatus is mounted at its inner end upon the rotatable frame for extending and retracting movement along a substantially horizontal axis, and a fork bar frame carried upon the reach apparatus includes fluid actuated means for tilting the fork bars thereon. A unique actuator system is provided for rotating the rotatable frame with respect to the support frame.
