  • Patent number: 10005158
Abstract: A method of forming an earth-boring tool includes forming a tool body including at least one inverted cutting element pocket, at least a portion of the at least one inverted cutting element pocket having a profile substantially matching a profile of an actual cutting element to be secured within a cutting element pocket to be formed by subsequently machining the at least one inverted cutting element pocket. Hardfacing material may be applied to portions of the tool body. The actual cutting element pocket is formed by removing material of the tool body within the at least one inverted cutting element pocket subsequent to applying the hardfacing material to portions of the tool body. A cutting element is affixed within the actual cutting element pocket.

  • Publication number: 20170113264
Abstract: A method of joining a component, such as a cutting element, to another component or body of an earth-boring tool, according to embodiments of the present disclosure, includes disposing a third-body structure, which may comprise a braze material, between a surface of the component and a surface of the another component of the earth-boring tool. The component to be joined is then rotated relative to the surface of the another component to generate frictional heat in the third-body structure and to at least plasticize material of the third-body structure. After the rotation, the plasticized material of the third-body structure is compressed between the surfaces and then allowed to solidify, which bonds the component to the another component without deforming either the component or the another component.

  • Publication number: 20080224580
Abstract: A module of furniture is provided for use in a modular furniture system or as a free standing piece of furniture, comprising, a frame construction with two end assemblies each having a base and a front and rear upright. A flange and upper support beam connect the upper ends of the uprights and support a shelf. A mid-support beam connects the rear uprights and provides an accessory attachment lip as well as a wire management trough. A screen is disposed between the rear uprights for additional privacy. Various accessories including speaker shelves, a monitor mount, and a book shelf are included as a kit with the module for added desktop organization. Each accessory has a clasp, which may be integrally formed, for attaching to one of the support beams.

  • Patent number: 5492616
Abstract: A protective envelope package is formed by folding an essentially flat blank along a midpoint and hinge area to form an essentially flat first panel and flat second panel. Upstanding from and along the top and bottom peripheral edges of the flat first panel are a plurality of annular receptacles. Upstanding from and along the top and bottom peripheral edges of the flat second panel are a like number of upstanding locking members, said upstanding locking members being adapted to engage said annular receptacles to maintain the envelope in a folded condition. A plurality of ribs disposed in a longitudinal and parallel conformation on the panels prevent compression of the flat first panel and flat second panel. The envelope package my be opened by exerting force downward on its peripheral edges so that the object retained therein is expelled without the user actually handling the object.
