  • Publication number: 20060274678
Abstract: A Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) enabled device sends feature information about remotely configurable features that are offered by the SIP enabled device to a central server. The central server uses the feature information to determine if the features that are offered by the SIP enabled device are compatible with features that are offered by the central server. The central server remotely configures the features that are offered by the SIP enabled device to ensure interoperability with the features that are offered by the central server. The SIP enabled device notifies the central server if a feature button associated with a feature, which has been disabled by the central server, has been pressed by a user of the SIP enabled device. The central server seamlessly provides a comparable feature to the user, including the setting of a Light Emitting Diode, which is associated with the feature button, to an appropriate state.
