  • Patent number: 7746946
Abstract: Modifying a signal according to a diversity parameter adjustment includes accessing scan parameter values, where a scan parameter describes a scan process. The scan parameter values include diversity parameter vectors, where a diversity parameter vector has a diversity parameter value for each of one or more diversity parameters. The scan process is performed by repeating the following for each diversity parameter vector: modifying a signal according to the diversity parameter values of the diversity parameter vector, where the signal is transmitted from a modifying communication device to a feedback communication device; and receiving a feedback signal reflecting feedback information describing the signal as received by the feedback communication device.

  • Patent number: 7633905
Abstract: Calibrating a transmit diversity device includes establishing diversity parameter values of diversity parameters for a plurality of signals, where each signal is transmitted from a channel of the transmit diversity device. The following are performed for each diversity parameter value to yield associations: determining a modification parameter value that yields a diversity parameter value, where a modification parameter value describes modulation of a feature of at least one signal; and associating the modification parameter value with the diversity parameter value to yield an association. Calibration data is generated in accordance with the associations.

  • Patent number: 7616930
Abstract: Calculating a phase adjustment includes establishing a current phase adjustment for a signal transmitted from a modifying communication device to a feedback communication device. A control signal is received. The control signal comprises windows communicating power indicators that reflect the power of the signal. A previous window communicates power indicators reflecting the power of the signal, and a current window communicates current power indicators reflecting the power of the signal. A previous power trend is estimated from previous power indicators, and a current power trend is estimated from current power indicators. A power trend change is determined from the previous power trend and the current power trend, and a phase increment is determined in accordance with the power trend change. A next phase adjustment is calculated from the current phase adjustment and the phase increment.

  • Publication number: 20020097191
Abstract: An antenna tower adjusts a subscriber beam in elevation to reduce cell interference. The antenna tower includes vertically spaced antennas that generate a subscriber beam that may be precisely adjusted in elevation. The antenna tower may also periodically calibrate the subscriber beam in order to precisely point the subscriber beam in a desired direction.

  • Publication number: 20020065107
Abstract: An antenna tower receives a first calibration signal and a second calibration signal. The antenna tower determines an adjustment angle from the first calibration signal and the second calibration signal, and uses the adjustment angle to adjust a subscriber beam in elevation to reduce cell site interference.
