  • Publication number: 20210018713
Abstract: A passive cooling article is disposed on a substrate to cool the substrate. The article includes an outer layer having a high absorbance in the atmospheric window region of the electromagnetic spectrum and having a high transmittance in the solar region of the spectrum. The article also includes a reflector having a high reflectivity in the solar region of the spectrum. At least one of the outer layer and the reflector includes a fluoropolymer. Micro-sized particles or surface structures may be disposed in or on the outer layer or the reflector to improve absorbance. A metallic layer may be disposed between the fluoropolymer and the substrate to be cooled.

  • Patent number: 7255133
Abstract: A fluid pressure system (S) includes a flexible diaphragm bladder (172) located inside a pressure tank (164) installed within a fluid system such as well (168). In preferred aspects, the bladder (172) can be inflated by the introduction of air and is located within a flexible confining tube (198) or confining element (298) for preventing over expansion of the bladder (172). The bladder (172) and the confining tube or element (198, 298) are free floating in and without physical connection with the pressure tank (164) in preferred forms. The pressure tank (164) includes a flexible side wall (196) to allow folding or willing of the assembled fluid pressure system (S) in preferred forms. Confining tube (198) in a preferred form is of a cylindrical configuration and arranged concentrically around the bladder (172). Confining element (298) is carried by the bladder (172) and creates a barrier extending along a chord of a cross section of pressure tank (164).

  • Patent number: 7093651
Abstract: A water pressure system includes a pressure tank installed underground within the well casing of a well. The water pressure system includes a submersible pump connected to the inlet of the pressure tank by a drop pipe. The outlet of the pressure tank is connected to a second drop pipe and in turn to a discharge pipe for distribution of pressurized water to a house or other building. A pressure switch is connected to the pressure tank for controlling the submersible pump. The pressure tank includes an outer sidewall with an inlet end and an outlet end. A flexible diaphragm bladder located within the outer sidewall is connected between the inlet and outlet of the tank. In a first embodiment, a tube extends through the center of the bladder between an inlet opening and an outlet opening. The tube has a plurality of holes therein to allow water to flow into and out of the flexible bladder. Pressurized air fills the space between the bladder and the outer sidewall to pressurize the water in the bladder.

  • Patent number: 6684945
Abstract: An air filter for a well is installed within a well casing of the well. The air filter forming an airtight seal around the well casing of the well, such that all the air that enters and exits the well must pass through the air filter. The air filter preferably includes a filter housing, at least one removable gasket and a removable filter cartridge installed within an opening extending through the filter housing. The air filter prevents dirt, dust, bacteria, gaseous chemicals, volatile organic compounds, (VOCs), insects and other air born contaminants from entering and possibly contaminating the well. An air filter may also be installed within a vent pipe extending through a well seal attached to the top of a well casing of a well.

  • Patent number: 4953737
Abstract: A vessel which is self-righting and stable without the need for a weighted base is comprised of a planar base and sides whose cross section is an arc of an involute defined by a circle inside the cup. The most extended point on the involute is at or adjacent to the rim of the cup while the least extended point is the point where the side joins the planar base. In preferred embodiments, the vessel includes both a cup portion and a lid which retains liquids in the cup portion such that the overall center of gravity remains on the side of the reaction force vector at the point of contact between the cup and the surface on which it is placed, toward the center of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 4152265
Abstract: A filter apparatus in which a generally horizontal bed of filter material is supported on a porous support and is divided by spaced partitions into individual filter cells above the support and individual filter compartments below the support, and a carriage is mounted for movement along the filter bed and has a collector hood that moves along the top of the bed to collect backwash effluent therefrom and a backwash head arranged to direct backwash fluid into the compartments below the porous support. A pair of spaced scarifier blades are provided in the collector hood to scarify the upper surfaces of the filter bed. The backwash head is advantageously in the form of a jet pump arranged to entrain water from filtrate launder that communicates with the filtrate compartments.
