  • Publication number: 20060103655
Abstract: Described is a method and system in which storyboard objects coordinate the animation of multiple elements and/or media displayed on a computer graphics display. Storyboards relate properties of elements in an element tree to a timeline, such that the properties associated with a storyboard are animated/play together as a group by starting, stopping, seeking or pausing the storyboard. Triggers, such as controlled by user interaction with the displayed information, including property triggers that change values in response to a state change, and event triggers that fire events, may cause the storyboard to start, stop, pause and seek. Storyboards may be used in XAML-based programs, and may be directly associated with elements, or indirectly associated with elements via styles. Complex properties and changeables are supported. Media playback may be controlled via storyboards, and thereby coordinated with other media playback and/or animations.

  • Publication number: 20050237321
Abstract: A layout resizes intelligently without complexity. Objects or elements are attached to a virtual grid of row and column gridlines, which are defined separately. The relationship between the objects and the grid is bi-directional so that moving one (gridline or object) will affect the other (object or gridline). In other words, expanding/collapsing the object will push the gridlines, and moving the gridline will expand/collapse the object. The virtual grid can be created before or after the objects to provide further flexibility. A child object can have its own virtual grid, which allows fine-grained control where desired.

  • Publication number: 20050232587
Abstract: Combined object level and property level key framing systems, methods, and user interfaces are provided in which a user can enter a mode where any change to a property is recorded as a key framing action (e.g., creation or edit) at the current time as indicated by a timeline. When a key frame is created in this mode, the surrounding object level key frames are inspected to ensure that the functionality that users expect from object level key frames is maintained. If a user explicitly creates an animation of an attribute that spans an object level key frame, then that span for the animation is maintained as the user edits.

  • Patent number: 6950266
Abstract: A micro-actuator is comprised of a piezoelectric motor mounted on a flexure tongue with offsetting hinges, to perform a fine positioning of the magnetic read/write head. The substantial gain in the frequency response greatly improves the performance and accuracy of the track-follow control for fine positioning. The simplicity of the enhanced micro-actuator design results in a manufacturing efficiency that enables a high-volume, low-cost production. The micro-actuator is interposed between a flexure tongue and a slider to perform an active control of the fly height of the magnetic read/write head. The induced slider crown and camber are used to compensate for thermal expansion of the magnetic read/write head, which causes the slider to be displaced at an unintended fly height position relative to the surface of the magnetic recording disk. The enhanced micro-actuator design results in reduced altitude sensitivity, ABS tolerances, and reduced stiction.

  • Publication number: 20050046630
Abstract: An transition information is created and stored for layout animations. This transition information is then applied to layout changes at runtime when a trigger event occurs to animate a change in a layout. In one embodiment, transition information is provided in a script. The script details how a layout transition will occur in a layout during runtime. When the transition does occur, the transition information specified is applied to the transition, thereby allowing the user experience to be enhanced. In this way, animation is integrated in providing a graphical display.

  • Publication number: 20040263537
Abstract: Vector graphics may be flexibly resized. Pins are associated with vector graphics control points, and when a canvas is resized, the pin locations are scaled according to the canvas resizing, and the control points associated with the pin are scaled according to a different positioning scheme. Pins may be fixed in location relative to the pin location, or may scale only in one direction. Control points not associated with a pin are scaled according to the canvas resizing. Other embodiments allow regions to be defined, in which control points are governed by a different positioning scheme, or allow a grid lines to be drawn defining the canvas into slices, where each slice is assigned a specific positioning scheme.

  • Patent number: 6168338
Abstract: A ring binder notebook is described which utilizes readily openable and closable snap rings and one or more covers that, unlike standard ring binder notebooks, are not restricted to either a closed (0°) or a half-open (180°) position—but may be fully opened (360°) back to front. This flexibility, previously possible only with standard spiral bound notebooks, is now achieved while still retaining the ability to readily add, remove, or rearrange the contents of the notebook. A notebook ring assembly is also described. The ring assembly has a shell, a pair of back plates, and one or more sets of longitudinally aligned binder ring members. Each binder ring member attached to the first back plate is transversely aligned with an opposing binder ring member attached to the second back plate. Each binder ring member attached to the first back plate is attached so that it extends away from the upper surface of the first back plate.
