Publication number: 20070212271Abstract: A system and method for removing sulfur contaminants from an air stream prior to feeding the air stream to an autothermal reformer. The system includes an air inlet, a first desulfurization reactor, and the autothermal reformer. The air inlet is adapted to allow atmospheric air to enter therethrough to form the air stream. The first desulfurization reactor includes a first fixed bed. The first fixed bed includes one or more metal oxides adapted to remove sulfur dioxide from the air stream to create a desulfurized air stream. The sulfur dioxide is removed from the air stream as the air stream moves through the first desulfurization reactor. The autothermal reformer is adapted to receive the desulfurized air stream and a desulfurized natural gas/steam stream and convert the received desulfurized air stream and the received desulfurized natural gas/steam stream into a synthesis gas stream substantially free of sulfur contaminants.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 16, 2007Publication date: September 13, 2007Inventors: Paul Kennedy, Stephen LeViness, Kenneth Agee, Kym Arcuri

Patent number: 6989403Abstract: A process for regenerating a slurry Fischer-Tropsch catalyst, which needs regeneration, involves de-waxing and drying the catalyst sufficiently to produce a free-flowing catalyst powder that is fluidizable; fluidizing the catalyst powder; treating the catalyst powder with an oxygen treatment; reducing the catalyst powder with a reducing gas to form a reduced catalyst powder; and mixing the reduced catalyst powder with hydrocarbons to form a regenerated, slurry catalyst. The oxidation and reduction steps may be repeated. An oxygen treatment includes using a fixed O2 level with ramped temperatures, fixed temperatures with increased O2 levels, or a combination.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2004Date of Patent: January 24, 2006Assignee: Syntroleum CorporationInventors: Jui-Hsin R.
