Abstract: An orthopedic implant system includes an insertion instrument having an actuator and a retention mechanism. The implant system also includes an orthopedic staple implant configured to releasably couple with the retention mechanism of the insertion instrument and, upon actuation of the actuator, decouple from the insertion instrument. Also disclosed is a surgical instrument having an upper portion and a lower portion that is integral with the upper portion. The lower portion includes an actuator extending laterally and a pair of retainers extending from the lower portion. Each retainer has a substantially curved geometry with the curvature pointing toward a midline of the instrument. An orthopedic staple implant is also disclosed that has a bridge and a pair of legs extending from a bottom surface of the bridge. Each of the legs includes a texture or gripping configuration disposed on an inner surface of the leg.

Abstract: An external fixation system includes an upper fixation element including a semicircular geometry, and an intermediate fixation element including a circular geometry, in which the intermediate fixation element is releasably coupled with the upper fixation element. The system also includes a lower fixation element including a substantially U-shaped geometry terminating at a first end point and a second end point, in which the lower fixation element is releasably coupled with the intermediate fixation element, and an anterior fixation element including a semicircular geometry. The anterior fixation element is also fixedly coupled with the first and second end points of the lower fixation element. Abstract: Implants, guides, devices, system and corresponding instruments for use in securing two bone segments together are disclosed. More specifically, a dynamic bone plate system is disclosed. The plate system includes a bone plate with at least one deformable member that is received within the bone plate. The bone plate construct also includes at least one coupling member for engaging the at least one deformable member to connect it to the bone plate system. The bone plate system also includes a plurality of bone fasteners for attaching the bone plate to the two bone segments. Methods for using the dynamic bone plate system to secure two bone segments together are also disclosed.
