  • Publication number: 20130214190
Abstract: An air valve includes a valve body and a disc configured to engage a seat. An inlet port is upstream from the seat, and an outlet port is downstream from the seat. A stern is connected to the disc, and a piston is connected to the stern, wherein the piston has first and second positions. A chamber is defined at least in part by the piston and the valve body. A clearance between the valve body and the stem has a first cross-sectional area. One or more relief ports provide fluid communication from the chamber through the valve body and have a combined second cross-sectional area that is greater than or equal to the first cross-sectional area. A method for refurbishing the air valve, as previously described, includes increasing the second cross-sectional area greater than or equal to the first cross-sectional area.

  • Publication number: 20130127656
Abstract: A method of filtering radar return signals to discriminate between targets of interest and clutter is presented in which a filter filters radar return signals received by a first radar receiver, based on radar return signals received at another radar receiver, to produce filtered radar return data in which radar return signals received by the first radar receiver for targets of interest are present and radar return signals received by the first radar receiver but arising from clutter are suppressed.

  • Publication number: 20130038224
Abstract: The present invention provides apparatus and methods for controlling the illumination throughout an area where even and constant lighting is not required. The invention includes one or more light sources, such as luminaires, the status of which is controlled by a controller responsive to a sensor for detecting a parameter of interest. Preferably the sensor detects motion of a subject moving through the area of controlled illumination. Each independent controller may receive and transmit signals indicative of the status of one or more nearby light source for determining and controlling the lighting status of the light source with which it is in controlling communication. The determining by the controller is preferably carried out by a programmed microprocessor. The communication between controllers may be wireless. The signals communicated among controllers may be hierarchical for determining whether a response is required and what the response might be.

  • Patent number: 8065304
Abstract: In one illustrative embodiment, a computer implemented method using asymmetric memory management is provided. The computer implemented method receives a request, containing a search key, to access an array of records in the asymmetric memory, wherein the array has a sorted prefix portion and an unsorted append portion, the append portion alternatively comprising a linked-list, and responsive to a determination that the request is an insert request, inserts the record in the request in arrival order in the unsorted append portion to form a newly inserted record. Responsive to a determination that the newly inserted record completes the group of records, stores an index, in sorted order, for the group of records.

  • Publication number: 20110241928
Abstract: A radar system for discriminating between sources of radar interference and targets of interest. The system includes a transmitter for transmitting radar signals into a region, a receiver for receiving return signals of the radar signals returned from within the region, and a processor for processing the return signals to discriminate between return signals returned from a first object and return signals returned from a second object where the return signals from the second object comprise both zero and non-zero Doppler components and interfere with the return signals from the first object. The radar system is operable for discriminating between the return signals when the return signals are received at a distance from the second object which is less than a proximity limit based on the geometry of the object.
