  • Patent number: 5122447
Abstract: A method of testing serum from swine vaccinated against pseudorabies virus with viral envelope-based subunit vaccines to determine the presence of antibodies to infecting pseudorabies virus in wihch an immunoassay is performed on the swine serum using a pseudorabies virus antigen preparation comprising nucleocapsid proteins of the pseudorabies virus. The universal diagnostic antigen is one or more nucleocapsid proteins having relative molecular weights of approximately 23 k, 34 k, 41 k, 63 k and 140 k.

  • Patent number: 4820629
Abstract: Swine serum is tested for antibodies to pseudorabies (PR) virus by an immunoassay using a specific supernatant-elaborated PR virus antigen which is antigenically distinct from the lectin-binding glycoproteins of PR virus.

  • Patent number: 4493825
Abstract: Purified antigenically selective vaccines for domestic animals are prepared from microorganism cultures containing the immunizing agent by first complexing the immunizing agent with micro-particles having bound IgG antibodies specific for the immunizing agent, separating the resulting complex, and preparing a vaccine directly therefrom containing the antigen-antibody complex. The micro-particles preferably have Protein A in their outer surfaces for binding to the specific antibodies. The complex-containing vaccines provide effective immunization. The method and the resulting vaccines are particularly useful in preparing viral and bacterial subunit vaccines.

  • Patent number: 4470967
Abstract: Anti-viral vaccines for domestic animals are prepared from glycoprotein envelope whole virus or antigenic glycoprotein obtained therefrom by complexing the glycoprotein antigenic agent with a lectin, which is preferably a mitogenic lectin. The recovery of the immunizing agent from an aqueous solution or suspension is facilitated since the lectin-glycoprotein complex is readily recoverable. The mitogenic lectin administered in the vaccine with the glycoprotein antigen can enhance the anamnestic response, in effect, acting as an adjuvant.
