    Abstract: A system for synchronizing data in a spreadsheet application with data on a remote display is described. The system includes at least one data cell in the spreadsheet application. The data cell contains data to be displayed on the remote display and at least one characteristic associated with the data. The system further includes an add-on function associated with the spreadsheet configured to detect changes to the data or the at least one characteristic, and to transmit a message to update the remote display based on detection of a change in the data or the at least one characteristic.
