The portable air compressor further includes a compressor unit coupled to the air tank including compressor components for compressing air, and a housing having a base disposed generally between the compressor components and the air tank. The base has a concave recess extending at least partially around a circumference of the compressor unit. The portable air compressor further includes a power cord for supplying power to the compressor components. The power cord is receivable around the circumference of the compressor unit in the recess for storage.

Abstract: A tile saw includes a frame supporting a saw, a table, and pan. The pan includes an inside bottom surface and an outer wall defined by a first end wall, a second end wall spaced away from the first end wall, and first and second side walls extending between the first end wall and the second end wall. A connection assembly couples the frame to the pan, and includes a first engagement member disposed on the first end wall, and second and third engagement members disposed on the second end wall. A stand includes a plurality of legs that support the pan. A transport assembly transports the pan, the table, and the frame separately from the stand. The transport assembly includes wheels coupled to one of the first end wall or second end wall, and a handle coupled to the other of the first end wall or second end wall.

Abstract: A tile saw for cutting a workpiece includes a frame having a guide that extends from a first end to a second end. A first engagement member and second engagement member are coupled to the frame and disposed adjacent the first end, and a third engagement member is disposed adjacent the third end. A saw is coupled to the frame and is operable to rotate a cutting blade about an axis and a table is operable to support the workpiece. A pan is positioned to support the frame and contain a quantity of coolant. A fourth engagement member is coupled to the third engagement member and a first latch is selectively coupled to the first engagement member. A second latch is selectively coupled to the second engagement member. The first and second latch and the fourth engagement member cooperate to restrict movement of the frame with respect to the pan.

Abstract: A portable hand tool includes a housing with a handle configured to be carried by a user and a motor with a motor shaft rotatably extending therefrom. An output shaft rotatably connected to the motor shaft, upon which a cutting blade is rotatably fixed. The cutting blade is substantially enclosed within a blade guard. An impeller is rotatably mounted with one of the motor shaft or the output shaft and substantially enclosed within a fan housing. A plenum is configured to provide enclosed fluid communication between the blade guard and the fan housing, and at least one aperture defined in the blade guard in communication with the plenum.

Abstract: A hood assembly for converting a surface planer between at least two operative modes for expelling chips removed from a workpiece being planed is provided. The hood assembly includes a manifold that is releasably attachable to the carriage assembly. The hood assembly also includes a hood door that is actuatable between at least two operative positions relative to the manifold, thereby providing at least two operative modes for expelling chips from the planer.

Abstract: A cutting device, such as a circular saw, is disclosed with a laser-generating alignment mechanism. The alignment mechanism is mounted on a fixed component of the cutting device, such as a fixed linkage between the base of the device and the upper blade guard, thereby eliminating any significant variation in the length of the laser beam and resulting in a more accurate cut. A method of generating an accurate cut is also provided. The method includes placing a cutting device, such as a circular saw, adjacent to a workpiece and cutting the workpiece along a laser beam created by a laser generator mounted on a fixed component of the cutting device, such as a fixed linkage between the base of the device and the upper blade guard.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a collapsible stand for a bench-top power tool, and a portable power tool therefore. The stand includes a plurality of legs spaced about a central axis and pivotally interconnected by a plurality of cross members. Each leg has an upper end for supporting the power tool and a lower end for contacting an underlying support surface in an expanded position of the stand. The stand may be collapsed wherein the legs and cross members collectively converge toward the central axis as the legs and cross members each translate towards an orientation that is parallel to the central axis.

Abstract: Accordingly, a work tool is provided that features a table that can be rotated about all three axes of a traditional coordinate system. The work tool features a housing that contains a tool that is translatable along an axis to make contact with a workpiece. A table for mounting the workpiece is also connected to the housing. The table is rotatable about the axis along which the tool is translated to make contact with the workpiece. The table is also rotatable about the two other axes perpendicular to the axis that the tool moves along. Three separate locks are provided, each to maintain the table stationary about one of the three axes. The three axes are each controlled by a handle attached to the locking mechanisms.

Abstract: A portably log splitter is provided. The log splitter comprises a base having a pair of one-piece side members, and a support member to which the one-piece side members are attached. The support member and the one-piece side members form a seat that is adapted to receive a log. The log splitter also includes a splitting wedge that is attached to the support member and a contact member that is configured to translate in a reciprocal manner adjacent to the support member in order to move the log. The log splitter also includes a control assembly operated by a switch to actuate the contact member in the reciprocal manner.

Abstract: An ergonomic miter saw is provided having a base and a saw arm assembly with the saw arm assembly pivotally affixed at a fixed end to the base and provided with a distal end having a handle extending outwardly therefrom. The central region of the arm assembly includes a rotary spindle supporting a cutting disk. A handle is preferably provided with an elongate grip portion sized for the user's fingers and a palm pad portion extending outwardly therefrom to underlie the heal of the user's hand to minimize bending torque on the user's wrist as the arm is lowered. Ideally, the handle is rotated in a direction opposite that the cutting disk is tilted. Preferably, the handle is adjustably oriented about the arm axis in a direction opposite that the saw blade is tiltable so that the deviation for horizontal of the handle can be minimized when the miter saw is used in a tilted cutting disk mode.

Abstract: A trim router heat sink with a bearing seat and shaft lock that mount to a trim router to act as a heat sink. A shaft extends through the bearing seat and has a shaft lock. The shaft is held on one end by the trim router's motor shaft and on the other end by a bearing. The shaft is connected to a collet so that when the motor of the trim router is operated, the shaft turns the collet. The shaft can be locked to facilitate the installation or removal of a cutting tool in the collet.

Abstract: A hand-held electric chain saw including a frame forming a housing with a rear end handle; a motor connected to the frame; a chain bar connected to the frame; a saw chain movably mounted to the chain bar and connected by a drive to the motor; and an extension pole attachment system on a bottom surface of the frame adapted to receive a portion of an extension pole to fixedly attach the extension pole to the bottom surface of the frame. The extension pole includes a pole section having a front end and a rear end; a removable connection system at the front end of the pole section; and an electrical cord. The removable connection system includes a rail adapted to slide into a slot at a bottom of the chain saw to thereby mechanically connect the extension pole to the chain saw.

Abstract: An auxiliary support table is provided having a workpiece support surface and a pair of elongated arms sized to telescopically extend through spaced apart longitudinal channels formed in a table saw base. The elongated support arms are provided with a pair of pivot members on the distal ends thereof to secure the arms to the channels. The auxiliary support table is pivotal between an in use position and a stored position. In the in use position, the support table is generally parallel to the table saw top while in a stored position, the elongated arms telescope outward through the channels allowing the auxiliary support table to pivot downwardly to a generally perpendicular position relative to the table top.

Abstract: A bayonet latch that includes a rotatable locking member having a slot to receive a pin provided on a stem such that when the locking member is in a first position the pin can pass through the slot and when the locking member is in a second position, the pin cannot pass through the slot.

Abstract: A battery ejection mechanism for ejecting a battery housing removably attached to an electrical device housing. The mechanism includes at least two ejection members, each having a button and an arm. The arms are adapted to transfer a force applied on the buttons to the electrical device housing to provide a pushing force for ejection of the battery pack from the electrical device housing. Force on the buttons also causes associated latches on the battery pack to move to their release position.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a collapsible stand for a bench-top power tool and methods therefore. The stand includes a structural member pivotally secured to a lower peripheral region of a base of a power tool. A slidable member is slidably and pivotally connected to the lower peripheral region and is pivotally connected to the pivotal structural member. Lower distal ends of both the pivotal and slidable structural members provide feet for supporting the associated power tool in an expanded orientation thereof. As the stand is collapsed, a top end of the slidable structural member slides towards a top end of the pivotal structural member. Both structural members may be pivoted to an orientation generally parallel with the lower peripheral region and may be locked thereto by a locking mechanism. A pair of wheels are rotatably connected to the base for transporting the stand and power tool thereupon.

Abstract: A hand-held power tool is provided with a housing, an attachment member, and an object sensor that is removable from the attachment member. The attachment member may be removable from the tool. The object sensor, which can be used to detect studs hidden behind walls, electrical lines, and other materials, is readily accessible to tradesmen.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a battery pack having an elastic bumper mounted externally to a plastic housing of the battery pack. The plastic housing includes a floor, a circumferential wall expanding upward from an outer peripheral edge of the floor and a cap. The floor, wall, and cap collectively define an enclosed internal cavity wherein a plurality of battery cells are mounted for providing power to the power tool. The elastic bumper serves as a cushion in the event of an impact load exerted on the battery pack or exerted on the battery pack and the associated power tool, if the battery pack or the assembled power tool and battery pack are dropped in an orientation in which the battery pack strikes a hard surface.
