  • Patent number: 8839621
Abstract: A hybrid power plant is described in which a pressurized water nuclear reactor or a biomass-fueled power plant, which have a relatively low operating temperature, such as, is combined with a coal or other fossil fuel power plant having a higher operating temperature. Steam from the first plant is superheated in the second power plant to provide a hybrid plant with improved efficiencies and lower emissions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 23, 2010
Date of Patent: September 23, 2014
    Assignee: Hybrid Power LLC
Inventors: Roger Ferguson, Kenneth Bryden, Steve Corns
  • Publication number: 20100154417
Abstract: A hybrid power plant is disclosed wherein a first power plant produces secondary steam of a first, relatively low temperature using a renewable source of energy such as geothermal or solar. The steam from the renewable source plant is passed through a solar power plant that has an operating temperature higher than that of the first temperature which results in superheating the first temperature steam to the higher temperature in the higher temperature solar power plant. Higher efficiencies are obtained.

  • Publication number: 20100089060
Abstract: A hybrid power plant that combines a variety of renewable heat sources with a fossil fuel furnace system. Saturated steam generated by the renewable sources is routed through the fossil fuel fired furnace where superheat is added. The renewable sources would include geothermal, thermal solar, and biomass energy sources. Reductions in emissions per unit of power and cost per unit of power are obtained.

  • Publication number: 20050149568
Abstract: The invention includes methods for content preserving data synthesis. In one method, data is collected into a data domain. The data domain is decomposed into self-organizing parts. Each self-organizing part is described by a descriptor or algorithm. The method can be performed dynamically The algorithm used to describe each self-organizing part can be a weighted Voroni tessellation.

  • Publication number: 20050115381
Abstract: Musical approaches are applied to the sonification of data. The musical approaches do not require directly mapping data to sound. Data is interpreted and transformed into sound through Lindemayer-systems or other methods. Where fractals are used in the interpretation and transformation of data to sounds the use of fractals provided needed phrasing to create a sense of forward motion in the music and to reveal a rich complexity in the details of the data.

  • Patent number: 4059910
Abstract: A sandal for wearing on the foot is provided having a plurality of elongated, wooden slats having their ends shaped to form the bottom of a sandal or shoe. The slats are held together by a flexible piece of material glued to one side thereof and a flexible sandal or shoe upper portion may be attached to the top of the flexible material holding the slats together to form a sandal.
