  • Publication number: 20240102039
Abstract: Methods and materials for modulating low light and/or shade tolerance, and red light specific responses in plants are disclosed. For example, nucleic acids encoding low light and/or SD+EODFR-tolerance polypeptides are disclosed as well as methods for using such nucleic acids to transform plant cells. Also disclosed are plants having increased low light and/or SD+EODFR tolerance. In addition, methods and materials involved in increasing UV-B tolerance in plants and methods and materials involved in modulating biomass levels in plants are provided.

  • Patent number: 9860093
Abstract: A communications adaptor comprises a receiver circuit, which can comprise a signal input configured to receive a frequency shift keyed (FSK) signal; a delay circuit in communication with the signal input and including a delayed signal output; a multiplier circuit in communication with the signal input and the delayed signal output, and the multiplier circuit can be configured to produce a serial bit steam from at least the signal input and the delayed signal output, the serial bit stream corresponds to one or more bits encoded with frequency shift keying in the FSK signal; and a signal output configured to output the serial bit stream. The communications adaptor also can comprise a transmitter circuit and a processor in communication with the receiver circuit and the transmitter circuit.

  • Publication number: 20130328252
Abstract: An evacuation system for an electric arc furnace that includes a combustion chamber downstream of the electric arc furnace, for receiving exhaust comprising gas and particulate from the electric arc furnace. The evacuation system also includes a dropout section downstream of the combustion chamber, for receiving the exhaust from the combustion chamber, for collecting the particulate, and for allowing the gas to pass through the dropout section to an exhaust duct.

  • Publication number: 20130071583
Abstract: An auxetic material comprises an outer component of a relatively compliant material, and an inner component of a relatively stiff material, wherein the inner component is located within a cavity provided within the outer component, the cavity being of non-linear form in the longitudinal direction of the material when the material is at rest.

  • Publication number: 20110209557
Abstract: A fibrous assembly includes two components. The first component provides a visual indication of when a pre-determined tensile load is applied to the assembly or when the fibres of the assembly have been over-extended. The first and second components are movable relative to each other, the visual indication being provided by the first component being substantially concealed by the second component and becoming at least partially exposed when the pre-determined tensile load is applied to the assembly or when the fibres have been over-extended. The first component comprises auxetic yarn.

  • Publication number: 20060111641
Abstract: An ICG control system for improved performance of Impedance Cardiography and improved reporting of the hemodynamic parameters obtained during an Impedance Cardiography (ICG) session. When the ICG control system is used, impedance waveforms, ECG Waveforms, and hemodynamic parameters are recorded continuously for each session. The parameters and/or pictorial representations are stored in a computer memory for recall, and the parameters may be recalled in formats particularly conducive to assessing and managing a patient's hemodynamic status.

  • Patent number: 6090354
Abstract: A process for production of titanium oxide comprises digesting an ilmenite ore in which at least 92% by weight of the iron which is present is in the ferrous form, if necessary adding a reducing agent and subsequently precipitating hydrous titanium oxide. When a reducing agent is added the amount used is equivalent to less than 4.0% by weight metallic iron calculated with respect to ilmenite ore. The process enables an increased throughput on a pigment plant and less co-product in the form of iron compounds is produced.
