  • Patent number: 5764181
Abstract: Radar attenuating compositions comprising a low viscosity siloxane polymer, a resinous crosslinker therefor and carbonyl iron powder have improved thermal stability when exposed to temperatures as high as 450.degree. F. The particular crosslinker that is used in the compositions of this invention provides improved stability for the compositions at room temperature storage conditions and also in the cured form. The compositions can be sprayed and/or molded and cured at room temperature and/or elevated temperatures, as desired.

  • Patent number: 5620485
Abstract: The present invention relates to an organopolysiloxane compound having at least one group having the formula ##STR1## and at least one group having its formula selected from --R.sup.3 --C.sub.6 H.sub.5 or --R.sub.3 --O--C.sub.6 H.sub.5 per molecule wherein R.sup.3 is a divalent hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, R.sup.4 is hydrogen, an alkyl group, an aryl group, or an acyl group, d has a value of 0 to 150, e has a value of 0 to 150, with the proviso that the value of d+e is at least one. The organopolysiloxane compounds of this invention reduce the amount of foam in the hydrocarbon fuel, especially in diesel fuels and jet fuels. The organopolysiloxane compound acts as a foam control agent which displays consistent compatibility and miscibility with additives which are frequently present in hydrocarbon fuels.

  • Patent number: 5435811
Abstract: Organosilicone materials that are "density-matched" to the hydrocarbon medium also act as defoamers in hydrocarbon fuel, specifically as described herein for diesel fuel. Specifically these new defoamers can be described as alkylmethylsiloxanes. They have the characteristics of being slightly soluble or insoluble in water and hydrocarbon fuels. By changing the solvent and the method of dispersion, different particle size distributions are obtained.

  • Patent number: 5397367
Abstract: Organosilicone materials that are "density-matched" to the hydrocarbon medium also act as defoamers in hydrocarbon fuel, specifically as described herein for diesel fuel. Specifically these new defoamers can be described as cross-linked organopolysiloxane-polyoxyalkylenes. They have the characteristics of being slightly soluble or insoluble in water and hydrocarbon fuels. By changing the solvent and the method of dispersion, different particle size distributions are obtained.

  • Patent number: 5366807
Abstract: A novel primer composition containing an aminoalkyl-substituted trialkoxysilane, a solvent, a carboxylic acid salt of tin and, optionally, an amine-containing organic compound, is applied to a cured silicone substrate and dried to improve the adhesion of a subsequently applied coating. The composition and method are of particular value for painting an elastomeric coating filled with an iron filler.

  • Patent number: 4874431
Abstract: A method of reducing the volatility and decreasing the evaporation loss of water repellent compositions containing a solution of an alkylalkoxysilane and a carrier prior to application of the composition to a porous substrate by acidifying the solution in order to cause rapid equilibriation of the alkylalkoxysilane and the carrier to a constant steady state condition, adding to the acidified hydrolyzed alkylalkoxsilane solution at least one metal salt catalyst to further increase the hydrolysis rate of the alkylalkoxysilane and to complete the hydrolysis and the condensation of the alkylalkoxysilane, adding at least one surface depositing agent to the acidified hydrolyzed alkylalkoxysilane solution in order to reduce evaporation of un-reacted alkylalkoxysilane, and maintaining the solution in a substantially anhydrous condition, so that the amount of hydrolyzed silane absorbed by the porous substrate and the percentage of water excluded from the porous substrate by the repellent composition are increased.

  • Patent number: 4846886
Abstract: A water repellent composition for porous substrates formed by combining an alkylakoxysilane with a carrier selected from the group consisting of alcohols, mineral spirits, and glycol ethers, together with an effective amount of a surface depositing agent for producing on the surface of the porous substrate a water beading-water shedding surface coating, and a metal salt catalyst. The method of producing on a porous substrate a water beading-water shedding surface coating by applying to the porous substrate the foregoing composition is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4554331
Abstract: Improved reactive liquid silicone resins are disclosed. The resins are the product of certain reactive liquid resins and a compound selected from acyloxysilanes, alkoxysilanes, and oximosilanes. When incorporated in a curable silicone composition, such as an elastomeric coating, the improved resins of this invention confer improved working time to the curable composition, and enhance the adhesion of the curable composition to a substrate.
