  • Publication number: 20230032946
Abstract: A device and method for preparing a sample for solid-liquid or liquid-liquid extraction are provided. In one embodiment, a device includes a sealed container including an opening for receiving a solid sample and a reservoir. The reservoir includes a solvent or is adapted to receive a solvent. The solid sample and the solvent are mixed in the reservoir and to concentrate at least one component of the sample into the solvent within the reservoir. The concentrate is settled into a solvent layer within the container. The solvent layer is sampled via a port. A method includes introducing a solid sample to a solvent; creating a solution by mixing the solid sample with the solvent; allowing the solvent solution to settle into at least one layer; and sampling within at least one layer.

  • Patent number: 9861909
Abstract: Provided herein are improved solid phase micro-extraction (SPME) devices, systems comprising such devices, and methods of use and manufacture thereof. In particular, SPME devices provided herein are configured to prevent damage (e.g., to the device and/or to a system in which they are employed) incurred, for example, through user error.

  • Publication number: 20020149777
Abstract: A multiple spring support for a displaceable mirror in an interferometer maintains the plane in which the flat mirror surface resides perpendicular to the centerline of a wave front at all retardations of the interferometer. In its simplest configuration, two equal length spring sections are connected to a movable rigid beam section at one end of the spring sections and are connected to a fixed rigid base section at the other end of the spring sections. The spacing between spring sections at the movable rigid beam section being the same as the spacing between spring sections at the fixed rigid base section.
