Abstract: A computing device, such as a hand-held computing device, like a personal digital assistant (PDA), includes a communications bus and a display configured to display in more than one display mode and the display coupled to the communications bus. The computing device also includes a processor coupled to the display and to the communications bus and a memory coupled to the communications bus. The memory is controlled by a display logic to manage the memory and allocate the memory according to the display mode.

Abstract: Techniques to create a portable wireless network are described. A mobile computing device may comprise a first transceiver to communicate with a fixed wireless device, and a second transceiver to communicate with multiple wireless devices. The mobile computing device may also include a network access management module to manage communications between each wireless device and the fixed wireless device. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A system and method for crediting an account of a network access node includes receiving a data signal at a network access node, forwarding the data signal wirelessly to a network user node, and providing account crediting information to an accounting system. The account crediting information represents a credit to be recorded for an account associated with the network access node.

Abstract: A computing device is provided that includes a display comprising a plurality of discrete elements. A memory is used to store a data collection of paginated content. A processor of the computing device is configured to retrieve each of the pages from the memory. The processor signals the display to individually present each of the pages. A sensor device is coupled to the processor. The sensor device is deflectable to signal the processor a deflection value that causes the processor to sequentially present at least portions of multiple pages on the display.

Abstract: A method and system for maintaining a substantially constant output of electrical power includes an engine for operating upon receipt of a signal, an electric motor, a flywheel mounted to rotate when either the engine or the motor is operated, a generator for producing electrical power when operated, and a hydraulic coupling system for driving the generator when the flywheel is rotated. A control unit allows application of power from a conventional power source to the electrical motor so long as the output power level from the conventional power source is adequate and thus the flywheel is rotated and the generator is driven to provide output power to a load. The control unit also allows application of power directly from the power source to the load. Upon interruption of power from the conventional power source, the control unit causes cut-off of power from the source to both the motor and the load, and applies a signal to the engine to start the engine.
