  • Publication number: 20090161728
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and electronic device for regulating communication are disclosed. A first radio 304 may execute a coordination communication operation using a coordination protocol. A coordinator layer 230 may determine an optimum protocol for a communication operation based on the coordination communication operation. A second radio 302 may use the optimum protocol.

  • Publication number: 20080106046
Abstract: A spring seal for sealing in high temperature applications includes a jacket and a spring member disposed within the jacket. The spring member is constructed to control a sealing load or spring rate of the spring seal relative to opposing flanges while the jacket is constructed to provide a sealing surface relative to the opposing flanges. The spring member is manufactured from a cast blade alloy, thereby allowing the spring member to maintain its spring back characteristics at relatively high temperatures of about 1300° F. and greater. Accordingly, the spring member minimizes the formation of a leak path between the spring seal and the opposing flanges. In one embodiment, the spring member is manufactured with a substantially U-shaped cross-section. With such a configuration, the spring seal provides substantially balanced, opposing forces on the jacket to minimize the formation of gaps between the spring seal and the flanges.

  • Publication number: 20060067286
Abstract: A system for wirelessly monitoring assets using a multi-hop communications network (10) includes a group of networked communications nodes for transmitting a beaconing radio frequency (RF) signal from a group of network nodes (11, 13, 15). One or more asset nodes (17, 19) are used for receiving the beaconing RF signal where the asset nodes (17, 19) determine if the asset is in an authorized location based upon logical place information received from the at least one network node. Logical place information includes an informal location name without the use of positional location coordinates. The invention is advantageous since it enables the asset to determine whether it is in an allowed, forbidden or disallowed location without the burden of calculating its physical position.

  • Publication number: 20050235647
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sealing body (1) for sealing an outer component (2) with respect to an inner component (3), in particular for a combustion chamber of a gas turbine. The outer component (2) has a passage opening (4), through which the inner component (3) projects out of the outer component (2). In the installed state, the sealing body (1) is arranged in the region of the passage opening (4), surrounds the inner component (3) in a circumferentially continuous manner, bears in a circumferentially continuous manner, by means of an inner sealing zone (7), against an outer sealing surface (6) of the inner component (3) and bears in a circumferentially continuous manner, by means of an outer sealing zone (8), against an inner sealing surface (5) of the outer component (2). The sealing body (1) is produced by deformation from at least one metal sheet that is in strip form and is circumferentially continuous.

  • Publication number: 20050192748
Abstract: To reduce interference and increase battery life, a method and apparatus for transmitting location data within an ad-hoc communication system is provided herein. During operation, a portion of a beacon payload is reserved to broadcast location information (coordinates) for a node as well as other parameters that may be needed for location estimation. In addition to a node's location, an accuracy of the nodes location is also included within the beacon field. Because nodes will no longer have to awake outside their beacon transmit times to broadcast location information, battery life is extended. In addition, because nodes will no longer be transmitting location information outside their guaranteed time slot, system interference is also reduced.
