  • Patent number: 4823959
Abstract: A carrier for beverage containers is provided which includes a plurality of container-accommodating sections arranged in laterally spaced relation. Each section includes a continuous peripheral rib which delimits an opening to receive a container. The rib comprises an outer flange and an inner flange which are interconnected along corresponding upper edges. The flanges depend divergently from the interconnected upper edges. Each rib is provided with a plurality of relatively spaced shoulders extending into the rib inner flange and forming same into a plurality of flange segements arranged in an endwise circumferentially spaced relation. Each shoulder includes a top portion extending inwardly from the interconnected flange upper edges. Depending from the top portion are opposed side portions, the latter interconnecting the top portion with corresponding ends of adjacent flange segments.

  • Patent number: 4821901
Abstract: A filler flat construction for accommodating a plurality of fragile articles is provided which includes a plurality of article-accommodating cells arranged in side by side relation and forming substantially parallel rows. Adjacent cells in a row are separated by upstanding first shoulders, and corresponding cells in adjoining rows are separated by upright second shoulders. The first and second shoulders of a cell are angularly disposed and interconnected by upstanding hollow corner posts. Each post projects upwardly to a greater extent than the interconnected shoulders and the portion of the post which is elevated relative to the interconnected shoulders is provided with open side walls facing adjacent cells. The upper end portions of the open side walls of the post are interconnected by a cap section. Each cell includes a base section which is substantially delimited by wall segments extending divergently upwardly therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4582248
Abstract: A molded carton is provided having a lock system for retaining a cover section in an overlying closed relation with the open top of a base section. The lock system includes a hinged flange mounted on a front segment of the base sections defining the open top. The flange is mounted for limited inward pivotal movement from a normal upright position wherein the flange projects generally upwardly from the front of the base section. The flange is provided with a predetermined number of outwardly projecting protrusions which, when the cover section is in closed position, interlockingly engage a corresponding number of apertures formed in the front wall of the cover section.

  • Patent number: 4448344
Abstract: An egg cell base is provided to create softened areas of egg contact. The base has a center area which creates a softened cushion for egg contact and also creates a gap to shield the eggs from contact with the surface upon which the egg carton rests. Internally, the bottom is provided with a crater construction which helps distribute contact over a larger shell area, and also helps locate and hold the egg tip in place. Surrounding the central area are foot areas of greater thickness which provide strength for stacking. The ring cushion also is capable of providing an accordian motion upward to accommodate high eggs that may bulge the cover of the carton stacked therebelow during shipment.
