  • Patent number: 6390808
Abstract: A gas burner log set for a fireplace has a pair of spaced apart ceramic fiber logs with a gas burner therebetween. The rear face of the front log has a substantially flat planar surface angled upwardly toward the front surface of the rear log to form therewith an elongated triangular flame channel having an apex at the top. The burner is spaced from the rear surface of the front log by a small selected distance and the burner has ports which emit gas and create a flame in the flame channel. The front surface of the rear log has an upper portion which overlays the ports of the burner. The log set provides a flame which closely simulates visually the burning of logs and provides a clean burning flame with a minimum amount of carbon monoxide.

  • Patent number: 6138667
Abstract: A gas fueled direct vent fireplace has a firebox within an outer casing, the firebox having a mounting plate above the floor of the casing for mounting burner support brackets, a pilot light assembly, a gas valve and control assembly, and other conventional elements for controlling the burner. The mounting plate includes an explosion blow-out valve plate and a vacuum release plate which are spring biased to close respective ports. The valve plate opens when the gas pressure within the firebox is excessive, and the vacuum release plate opens if the release of pressure from the firebox causes the firebox to become subatmospheric. The firebox has a frontal opening which is closed by a glass access door having an extrusion at upper and lower edges and side edge protectors. The extrusions have portions which face the interior of the firebox to be grasped by latches mounted on the firebox to tightly secure the glass access door to the firebox.

  • Patent number: 5669815
Abstract: A barometric damper has a housing which is adapted to be coupled with a structure. The housing has an opening that allows spatial communication between the interior and the exterior of the structure. The damper also has a damper blade. The damper blade is movably coupled with the housing. The blade has an open position where the blade accommodates air passage through the opening and a closed position where the flow of air through the opening is substantially precluded. The damper also has a lever that is movably coupled with the housing. The lever has an attaching means that is used to attach the lever to the blade when desired. The lever is movable between a first position where the lever accommodates free movement of the blade in response to barometric pressure changes on opposite sides of the blade, and a second position where the lever maintains the attaching means against the blade, thus holding the blade in its closed position.
