  • Publication number: 20070056562
Abstract: A fuel control system for an internal combustion engine includes a first module that determines a corrected injected fuel mass based on an engine temperature and a measured burned fuel mass and a second module that determines a raw injected fuel mass based on the corrected injected fuel mass and the engine temperature. A third module regulates fueling to a cylinder of the engine based on the raw injected fuel mass.

  • Publication number: 20060271268
Abstract: A fuel control system delivers fuel to an engine cylinder and compensates for lost fuel. The fuel control system comprises a fuel dynamics module that determines a fuel dynamics model that is indicative of fuel behavior. The fuel dynamic module determines an inverse of the fuel dynamics model, receives a fuel command, and generates an adjusted fuel command based on the fuel command and the inverse of the fuel dynamics model. A lost fuel compensation module receives the adjusted fuel command and generates a final fuel command based on the adjusted fuel command and a lost fuel factor. A control module controls fuel delivery according to the final fuel command.

  • Publication number: 20060249122
Abstract: A fuel control system for regulating fuel to cylinders of an internal combustion engine during an engine start and crank-to-run transition includes a first module that determines a raw injected fuel mass based on a utilized fuel fraction (UFF) model and a nominal fuel dynamics (NFD) and a second module that regulates fueling to a cylinder of the engine based on the raw injected fuel mass until a combustion event of the cylinder. Each of the UFF and NFD models is calibrated based on data from a plurality of test starts-that are based on a pre-defined test schedule.

  • Publication number: 20060243255
Abstract: A fuel control system for regulating fuel to cylinders of an internal combustion engine during an engine start and crank-to-run transition includes a first module that determines a plurality of step-ahead cylinder air masses (GPOs) for a cylinder based on a plurality of GPO prediction models. A second module regulates fueling to a cylinder of the engine based on the plurality of step-ahead GPOs until a combustion event of the cylinder. Each of the plurality of GPO prediction models is calibrated based on data from a plurality of test starts that are based on a pre-defined test schedule.

  • Publication number: 20060235600
Abstract: A modeling system for a control parameter of a vehicle comprises a first model that formulates the control parameter in terms of linear spline basis functions, coefficients, and knots. A second model is derived according to the first model, includes coefficients that are derived according to the linear spline basis functions, coefficients, and knots, and forms a linear equation for the control parameter. A memory module stores the linear equation. A control module calculates the control parameter according to the linear equation.

  • Publication number: 20050060084
Abstract: A vehicle system includes a throttle position sensor that generates a current throttle position signal (TPS), a MAF sensor that generates a current actual MAF signal, and a manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor that generates a current actual MAP signal. A controller determines a current estimated cylinder air flow (CAF) signal, determines a MAF transient signal and determines a MAP transient signal. The controller determines a predicted CAF signal into the engine based on the current estimated CAF signal, the current actual MAF signal, the current MAP signal, a current TPS signal, the MAF transient signal and the MAP transient signal.
