  • Patent number: 4510204
Abstract: Blends comprising at least two aqueous nitrile resin latexes which differ in film forming characteristics and dry film properties are useful in many applications as protective coatings. These blends are particularly useful as corrosion resistant coatings for metal substrates.

    Filed: February 22, 1983
Date of Patent: April 9, 1985
    Assignee: The Standard Oil Company
Inventors: June T. Duke, Kenneth E. Samuels, Mary-Catherine Brown
  • Patent number: 4379875
Abstract: Nitrile barrier resin latexes containing a coalescing agent which (1) is a solvent for the nitrile barrier resin, (2) has a boiling point between 100.degree. and 300.degree. C., and (3) does not azeotrope with water are excellent oxygen barriers and have good chemical resistance when coated on various substrates. Especially effective coalescing agents are selected from the group consisting of dimethyl formamide, dimethyl acetimide, methyl pyrrolidone, dimethyl sulfoxide, glycol carbonate and tetramethylene sulfone.
