  • Publication number: 20100101479
Abstract: A dual purpose flagpole has a plurality of elongated telescopic tubular sections for connecting vertically in a fully extended position to form a flagpole, and for collapsing telescopically in a nested position into the bottom tubular section. Each section has a smaller upper end and a larger lower end for forming a tapered tubular pole. Connectors for attaching a flag to the flagpole allow the flag to rotate freely in the wind so as to prevent the flag from wrapping around the flagpole. A foldable support stand for portable use of the flagpole includes a tubular support member, a rectangular plate, and foldable braces. For permanent use, each of the tubular sections has an aperture and a threaded fastener to provide additional structural integrity for the flagpole in the extended position. Different colors and shapes of figures on the outer surface of the flagpole resemble the theme of the flag.

  • Publication number: 20100001113
Abstract: A fishing reel for a fishing rod has a reel body with a line spool, a rotor that rotates a bail around the spool, a rotor handle, and a reel mounting arm. The reel mounting arm includes a mounting foot attached to the rod and a mounting neck connecting the mounting foot to the reel body. An angle between (i) a longitudinal axis of the rod and (ii) a longitudinal axis of the mounting neck that extends from the mounting foot to a rotation axis of the rotor handle is less than 90°. An angle between a longitudinal axis of the spool and the mounting neck axis is from 54° to 84°. By virtue of the angled configurations, there is reduced friction between the line and the rod line guide nearest the reel. As a result, casting distance is increased and line retrieval is smoother.

  • Publication number: 20050034348
Abstract: An improved tip-up flag device having a generally disk-shaped housing with a plurality of raised portions on the upper surface thereof which are substantially hollow to create corresponding cavities on the underside. A retaining and releasing assembly, connected to a reel spool assembly, is rotatably mounted in the housing for movement between a retracted position and an in-use position. When retracted, the reel spool assembly fits to be at least flush within one of the cavities. Other of the raised portions form a handle, an integrated tackle compartment and a flag securing post. The height, size and positioning of each of these raised portions is such that multiple devices may be evenly stacked and held against one another for convenient storage and transport.
