  • Patent number: 6108580
Abstract: An apparatus and method for applying an electric current to surface layers of a body is described to relieve stress and increase muscle relaxation. The invention provides muscle relaxation and stress reduction by applying an alternating positive and negative d.c. low voltage of substantially equal duration and substantially equal voltage to the skin surface layers. The voltage may be applied at a rate of about 0.2 cycles per second to about 500 cycles per second, with a voltage with a range of about 7.5 volts to about 24 volts, and an amplitude from about 50 microamps to about 1 milliamp.
