  • Patent number: 10380333
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for determining whether a user is authorized to take an examination. Facial recognition technology is used to determine whether an image of a user's face corresponds to an image of a set of images of individuals not permitted to take the examination. Based on a determination that the image of the user's face corresponds to an image of the set of images, a confidence score is assigned or modified. Voice recognition technology is used to determine whether a recording of the user's voice corresponds to a recording of a set of recordings of individuals not permitted to take the examination. Based on a determination that the recording of the user's voice corresponds to a recording of the set of recordings, the confidence score is modified. A determination is made as to whether the user is authorized to take the examination based on the confidence score.

  • Patent number: 9721080
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for providing a computer-based test to be taken at a computer. A determination is made as to whether a geolocation of the computer is within an approved geolocation range. A determination is made as to whether a time at which the computer-based test is to be provided to the computer is within an approved time range. A hardware profile of the testing center is compared to an expected hardware profile of the testing center. Biometric data of a test center administrator is compared to expected biometric data of the test center administrator, and a confidence score is modified based on results of the comparison. If the confidence score meets or exceeds a threshold, the computer-based test is provided to the computer over a network. If the confidence score is less than the threshold, the computer-based test is prevented from being provided to the computer.

  • Patent number: 9720890
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for rendering an assessment item. A document encoded in a markup language is received. The document includes data that relates to at least one of an appearance and content of an assessment item, and the document includes a reference to a content file. The content file is retrieved, where the content file includes computer-executable instructions for generating an interactive graphical representation for display on a display device. The interactive graphical representation includes one or more features with which a user interacts to respond to the assessment item. The computer-executable instructions are executed based on the data of the document to generate the interactive graphical representation. Data generated based on user manipulation of the one or more features is received. The data generated from the user manipulation is processed to generate a modified graphical representation responsive to the assessment item.

  • Patent number: 9449525
Abstract: A computer-based testing system includes testing stations connected to a testing service center and backend via the Internet for providing testing services. The system is operable to perform state management to implement fault recovery due to a computing device failure while a test is being administered. The system is also operable to utilize multiple caching techniques for mitigating network latency while administering tests.

  • Patent number: 8909127
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for carrying out an examination with a client computer. A client computer is booted using a secondary operating system other than a primary operating system of the client computer that is accessed from a computer readable medium provided by an administrator of an examination only on the day of the examination. A broadcast message is sent from the client computer to check for the existence of a local server and to establish communication with the local server. A client application is received from the local server for presenting the examination at the client computer. Assessment content is received for the examination from the local server. The examination including the assessment content is presented to a user of the client computer with the client application, and user responses are received at the client computer and transmitted to the local server.
