  • Patent number: 4652268
Abstract: Textile treating agent for imparting crease resistance is made by mixing 1 mol glyoxal, 2 mols formaldehyde, 1 mol urea and 1.5 mol ethylene glycol and reacting the mixture first at pH 6 to 7 at 60.degree. C. and then at pH 3 at 60.degree.. The product is found to have more stable formaldehyde release properties in textile treating baths as pH of the bath is varied in the range from about 3.0 to about 4.5.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 21, 1986
Date of Patent: March 24, 1987
    Assignee: American Cyanamid Company
    Inventor: Kenneth H. Remley

  • Patent number: 4331437
Abstract: The invention is a process whereby a fibrous cellulosic textile material is rendered wrinkle resistant by impregnating the material with an aqueous mixture of urea and at least one phosphoric acid, wherein the mole ratio of urea to phosphoric acid is about 4:1 to 8:1, to deposit thereon about 7.0-35% by weight of urea, and about 3.0-9.0% by weight of the phosphoric acid, based on the weight of the untreated material; heating the treated material to obtain a phosphorylated material; contacting the phosphorylated material with an aqueous solution of cyanamide to deposit thereon about 0.75-13.5% by weight of cyanamide, based on the weight of the phosphorylated material; and, heating the treated material to impart wrinkle resistance thereto.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 11, 1980
Date of Patent: May 25, 1982
    Assignee: American Cyanamid Co.
    Inventor: Kenneth H. Remley
  • Patent number: 4153744
Abstract: The invention is a process for imparting resistance to ultraviolet light-induced shade change to vat-dyed cellulose flame resistant material by contacting the material, after a flame retardant treatment with a phosphorus flame retardant and ammonia, with an oxidizing solution of hydrogen peroxide, acetic acid and water.
