  • Publication number: 20120034127
Abstract: A single crystal casting having substantially improved high-temperature oxidation resistance, hot corrosion (sulfidation) resistance, and resistance to creep under high temperature and high stress is characterized by an as-cast composition comprising a maximum sulfur content of 0.5 ppm by weight, a maximum phosphorus content of 20 ppm by weight, a maximum nitrogen content of 3 ppm by weight, a maximum oxygen content of 3 ppm by weight, and a combined yttrium and lanthanum content of 5-80 pm by weight. It has been discovered that careful control of the deleterious impurities, particularly sulfur, phosphorus, nitrogen and oxygen, in combination with a carefully controlled addition of yttrium and/or lanthanum provides unexpected improvements in corrosion and oxidation resistance, while also enhancing high-temperature, high-stress resistance to creep, without any detrimental effects on other mechanical properties, processing or producability, particularly castability.

  • Publication number: 20090212174
Abstract: A golf bag stand system is described wherein the legs of the stand system deploy in an arcuate path. The arcuate path permits the legs of the golf bag stand system to be widely deployed to support the golf bag while minimizing entanglement issues during deployment and retraction. The arcuate deployment keeps the legs closer to the center line of the bag during a greater period of the deployment/retraction, with the sideward/outward movement of the legs occurring at the end of leg deployment and at the beginning of leg retraction. This may be achieved by hingedly connecting the legs to the golf bag with an axis of rotation that is inclined toward the center of the golf bag. The legs of the golf bag include a bend or jog that permits the inclined axis of rotation while keeping the legs close to the golf bag when in the retracted position.

  • Publication number: 20070144401
Abstract: Slurries containing tri-or polyvalent cations are used for investment casting and making molds as well as core coatings. These slurries are aqueous or alcohol-based containing a mineral component and a polyanionic binder, where at least one of the continuous phase or mineral component contains trivalent or polyvalent cations or cations that are converted into trivalent or polyvalent cations during use. The cationic component is selected from a group consisting of at least one of the metals iron or aluminum. The polyanionic component contains at least one of the group consisting of colloidal silica or one or more water-soluble organic polymers.

  • Publication number: 20070024939
Abstract: A device and method for mass producing reflection holograms. Photosensitive material is drawn across an object to be copied and coherent radiation is scanned across the material and the object. The object may comprise a component which is variable, such as a counter, or a hologram. The exposed photosensitive material is removed from the object, the symbols on the object are changed if desired, fresh material is moved into place, and a new hologram is created. The holograms of the present invention preferably have the capability to be sequentially or individually numbered or otherwise customized with a variety of symbols, for example for security purposes.

  • Publication number: 20060257245
Abstract: A solids excluder device is mountable within a seal chamber to protect a shaft structure, such as a mechanical seal. The excluder device fits within a conventional seal chamber and circumferentially surrounds a shaft wherein the bushing includes circulation inducing formations which face towards a shaft surface and generate a flow of process fluid away from the mechanical seal or other pump components. The excluder bushing prevents the accumulation of solids within the seal chamber by generating a flow of process fluid out of this seal chamber. The flow carries solid particulates and other solid contaminants out of the seal chamber and away from the mechanical seal or other pump components to prevent the accumulation of solids within the seal chamber.

  • Publication number: 20060243411
Abstract: A system and method for producing foundry quality sand from non-conventional starting materials through the combination of oolitization and classification. Incoming particulate matter is first directed into a controlled energy attrition unit where the particles are made to collide with one another. Such collisions clean and round the particles by chipping away surface projections and coatings without crushing the particles. The particle stream is then directed through a multi-fraction classifier where it is separated into two or more useable grades of foundry sand. An air classifier is preferred for the classification stage.
